For coloring, use pencils and go in small circular shapes. It get rid of the white spaces and looks better.
For the body, try and find a picture of a real person who is standing/sitting in the generally same way you want to draw your person. It helps with the structure.
The hair looks really nice and your design is pretty original. Just try to work on the things 10k10k 2 and I have mentioned and your skills should improve. =) - Report As Spam
