I can't even tell what this is. It took me a solid minute to realize that there's a pen and a piece of paper in there, but beyond that, I have no clue. And you have some background images that you want to get rid of (the American flag). I agree with you that a lot of photography now seems to be macro shots, but successful macro shots are taken in a way that eliminate background distraction.
