I couldn't find a ref but this idea was taken from "Animatrix: Kids Story" as he free falls.
The body is me. I drew the birds on actually paper and laid them out of the floor. My girlfriend Jade Photoshopped it to remove the tile flooring and replace it with clouds and sky.
