Tyler Braithwaite died when he swerved the Ford F-250 pickup he was driving to avoid a deer on a road & struck a tree in the Slab Camp vicinity.
Alcohol did not appear to be a factor.
Crash investigators needed several tow trucks to remove the wreckage.
His mother Tammy Sullenger called the teenager "the biggest gentleman you'll ever meet.
"He opened doors for women."
"If someone fell, he helped them up."
The 6-foot-3-inch teenager was "a big, gentle giant," she said.
