I don't think you have enough of the model in the frame, instead of adjusting the camera to show more of her and less of the background; I think it would have been a little better just zoomed out a little and maybe down slightly. You could have also brightened up the eyes a little in Photoshop.

P.S. I'm glad to see some images from you that aren't over/underexposed or too contrasted. I see you have also upgraded your camera to an XSi, grats on that. - Report As Spam
