I hated the new kids. I mean they'd move into your street and then they'd act like they owned the place as if they'd been there for years.
But not her. She wasn't like that.
It all started in the sumer holidays. 14th July.
I was at home with my three best friends who i was in a band with. We were having our usual Virtua fighter 5 tournament. My mother rushed into the room.
'JON!' she screeched. 'Clean that mess up at once. They new neighbours are coming over in ten minutes.' She was pointing at the numerous pizza boxes and drinks cans that littered our coffee table.
'Yes mother.' I sighed.
The guys said their goodbyes and made a quick exit as soon as we'd cleared up.
I walked back into the living room and sat on the sofa waiting. A few minutes later my mother walked in followed by a woman of about the same age as her and a girl about the same age as me.
'Jon, this is Mrs Taylor and her daughter Morgan.' My mother said.
I smiled politely and they smiled back.
'Now Jon, we were hoping you'd show Morgan around.' my mother told me.
'Umm yeah sure.' I repliead and walked towards the door, Morgan following.
She was really quite pretty. She had brown wavy hair just past her shoulders and blonde highlights in her soft bangs. Her eyes were a gorgeous shade of chocolate brown.
'So where did you move from?' I said trying to make conversation.
'Oh, I lived in London in England. My father's got a new job here in Las vegas.' she said.
'You're accents really cute by the way' I told her shyly.
'Thanks' she said 'How old are you Jon?'
'Urm 16 you?'
'15. 16 in 3 months. where are we going?'
I noticed we'd been walking aimlessly.
'Oh urm... wanna see somewhere really cool?' i asked her.
'sure' she said.
I led her past the houses and up the dusty track to the top of the hill. I sat down under the tree and invited her to sit with me.
You could see for miles from up there.
'It's amazing!' she said.
'yeah...'
We spent the next 2 hours or so talking about ourselves, only to find out that we had a lot in common.
At this point we were lying under the tree together.
'I feel like I've known you for years' I said.
'Likewise.'
The sun was going down at this point and the sky had a magical golden glow.
I turned to look at her and plucked up the courage to do something I'd been planning for that whole time.
I kissed her.
'I've been waiting for that.' she beamed.
As I held her in my arms on that perfect day, all was golden in the sky, in the middle of summer.
A perfect ending? No. Merely a perfect beginning.
