• A scream broke the silence of the midnight’s strong held darkness. SilverMoon woke with a start. Standing, ears up, next to her was mist in the form of a wolf. MistySapphire, a mist wolf, was SilverMoon’s bonded animal. They had met on their first day at Avalon High School Warrior Academy for Girls. SilverMoon was a warrior-in-training at the Academy. “Misty did you hear that?” asked SilverMoon quietly and shyly. Misty had been up for some time now because she had sensed something was wrong.
    “Yes! Your time is near, my young warrior, to shine as bright as you can. You shall soon receive a call from the Academy telling you to hurry along. After that you will lead the warriors and warrior-in-trainings into battle. I, of course, will be with you all the way,” Misty said wisely. Misty was not only a mist wolf, but she was a seer too. SilverMoon was scared by this news, but nevertheless she put on her combat outfit. Just as Misty had said SilverMoon soon got a call from the Academy Head Master. She and Misty were out the door before the Head Master could hang up.
    The Academy was only a block away. Other warriors were rushing out of their houses and breathlessly saying “Hi” to SilverMoon as they joined her. She merely glanced back for a second. They all arrived at the Academy huffing and puffing. Animals and humans alike stood solemnly in front of the Academy, waiting for the Head Master. Finally a tall figure came to stand before them. He was quiet and still for a moment then he swiftly moved to a wooden stand. “I thank you all for coming on such short notice. As I said to you on the phone I am sorry to have waked you but this is not a drill. You all probably heard the scream that sounded not too long ago. I am sad to tell you that the Dark Witch has escaped her astral prison. She has also captured a fairy and is holding her hostage. My guess is she will kill the fairy using the Purple Poison, and then spread it all through out Avalon killing us all!” the Head Master’s booming voice echoed through the crowd of warriors. Everyone gasped, “I know it’s horrible.”
    One girl raised her hand high above the heads of others. The Head Master called on her. “Professor, how could the Dark Witch escape the astral prison when the guards were spirits and unaffected by her magic? Also they would have alerted us as soon as she escaped. The only way for her to get out is if someone on the outside did it,” came the loud and proud voice of SapphireCrystle, the Academy’s director of investigation. People in the crowd started to whisper.
    “I admit it is a bit strange,” the Head Master said sheepishly. SilverMoon had a bad feeling about this. Whenever SapphireCrystle got like this there was no stopping her.
    “How do we know it’s not one of us? We could be making our battle plan with a spy right here with us!” came the shrill voice of BlueAmber.
    “Wait guys! The Dark Witch may be doing this on purpose!” SilverMoon called. People gave her a look like she was stupid. “Not like that, you girls know what I mean. I mean she may be trying to get us not to trust each other. Because together we can kick her sorry butt, separated she can kick ours. There is one spy and one witch, and there are thousands upon thousands of us! I think that as long as we stay together it doesn’t really matter if there is a spy among us,” she explained. People were still staring at her but now with understanding. Misty howled to show she agreed. Other mist wolves howled along with Misty, all except SapphireCrystle’s mist wolf. “Anyways we’re off topic, does anyone know where the scream came from?”
    “It probably came from the captured fairy! We are not exactly sure,” the Head Master’s booming voice called above all the noise. Once they heard his voice everyone got quiet. Some animals and people jumped in fright. Everyone suddenly felt guilty; for all that time they had just wasted was time away from saving the fairy. Everything went still for a moment. Then someone started to cry so hard she mightv'e flooded the place, and all eyes turned to her. The young girl’s parents had sent her to the Academy without asking her, and she gradually began to like it a little. Everyone quickly discovered why the girl was crying, she had never been in a real battle before. The girls, around her, started comforting her.
    “I know you’re scared, we were all scared at one point in time here but I give you my word, as a friend and a fellow student, I won’t let anything happen to you. Also I bet your animal won’t either, I mean he’s a dragon!” SilverMoon and SapphireCrystle whispered to FireOcean, the young warrior-in-training. She gave a huge sniffle and said that she was grateful. “Now let’s get this show on the road!” called out SilverMoon with excitement. “If you don’t mind Head Master, but MistySapphire told me this battle was going to be my time to shine, and not to seem rude but I think that if you let me and with your help I could lead us into victory. Because, see, when Misty told me I actually made up a couple of battle plans,” SilverMoon asked and explained to the Head Master.
    “Well I don’t know if I should, seeing as this is the Dark Witch. I guess it would be ok if I’ll be right there with you,” the Head Master replied uncertainly.
    “Thank you Sir,” she said with joy. “Now the ones with mist wolves grab your weapons up front and you guys will give us cover by mist. Those of you who have dragons, hippogriffs, etc. grab your weapons near the professors, you guys will of course take to the sky. You'll know what to do from there?” SilverMoon took a breath while people nodded. “The rest of you need to get your weapons from each station. You'll will follow the mist; the sky people will give the signal to clear the mist. After that one-third of you will go into the castle to rescue the fairy. If anyone has any trouble scream so loud the enemy will go deaf long enough for help to arrive. Those who stay behind will battle with the guards and hold them out of the castle. Also one-third of the sky people should circle the top tower where the Dark Witch is. Once the fairy is rescued we will all go after the Dark Witch TOGETHER, no one is to go in alone! Understood?” SilverMoon finished as she looked around at the nodding heads. They were finally ready for the battle of a lifetime. “OK girls, are you'll ready to do this?” yelled SilverMoon. Everyone shouted back.
    It was time, they had gotten their weapons, trained for hours a day for this, and it was here. The mist wolves got into positions, SilverMoon gave the signal and “poof!” the wolves were now mist. It was game on! The sky people and animals were up in the air, and everyone else was hidden in the mist. They marched toward the Dark Witch’s lair. They were four feet away now from the guarded field, and SilverMoon gave another signal this time very quietly, the mist cleared. At once everyone spread out. The people and animals in the sky started their rampage right away, and the guards didn’t realize what was happening until it was too late. SilverMoon and SapphireCrystle led the attack on foot. It was animal against animal and human against human.
    The rampage in the castle was going well. The group inside was fighting like there was no tomorrow. They were at the tower’s low, dark dungeon door. They were battling the door guards and their reinforcements when suddenly a deafening scream pierced the darkness of the air, and this time it wasn’t the fairy. Everyone paused momentarily then people started rushing in that direction.
