Looking over the river into the woods I could see him. White and glowing with the light of the heavens above. I’d lost him almost a year and ½ ago, but I could see him clear as day, I could feel his presence on this snow fallen morning.
I had loved him with all my heart and soul. We’d known each other’s bodies like the back of our hands. When he died I went hollow. The heat had left my body.
I was standing on a cliff above the forest. My friends and I came up to this point for our last camping trip. I came with my ebony beauty. Though we shared a bed he never shared my heart because it had died with my loves last breath.
The ground was covered with snow and the treetops were glistening with frost. The river though had not yet frozen over. I could hear the echo of my fallen lover through the rustle of the trees. He kept saying come to me my love, we will live in eternity with each other.
My ebony was pulling me from the cliffs edge, he looked worried, and I didn’t understand why. Soon I would be with the one I loved, in the heat of his passion. Soon I would float above the sky never to fall.
In an instant I jerked my arm away from him. With all my might I ran to the edge jumping into an eternity of bliss.
I watched as ebony pulled me from the lake. I was laid out in his arms, he felt for a pulse that he would not find, I knew that but still I wondered if maybe I was just dreaming about my death.
I laughed as my friend cried for me. They would never know how happy I was. I was with the light of my life after all that had happened. Hand and hand we walked through the forest and then onto the valley of the dead. I was at peace at last on this perfect Christmas season.
My love would live on forever in these woods, for here I was the most alive. For now my ghost and his would stay together as it was meant to be for the remainder of our time.
