In a big field the grass is starting to turn green. The field is surrounded with trees which are full of cherry blossoms. A cool breeze blows many of those blossoms off of their branches and they scatter across the land. Remi looks up as cherry blossoms fall in her long pale blue hair. She crosses her arms to keep them warm. When another breeze brushes past she jumps straight onto the top branch of a tree overlooking the surrounding area. Remi looks a few miles ahead of her over at the village. It's a small village with only a handful of houses. The villagers tell Remi that at the age of four she showed up in the midst of this land, of this village called Hashi.
Ever since she showed up at Hashi, Remi has observed the people living there with her cyan colored eyes. Remi lives with the leader of the village Kiskei Hito. Kiskei is only nineteen years old, one year older than her. He had taken over as the leader of Hashi when his father died in an attack on their land. Kiskei's father was happy to welcome Remi into their home when she was a little girl those many years ago.
Remi jumps down from the tree and runs back home. She looks up at a flock of birds following her. Distracted by the birds, she realizes, almost too late, that there's a boulder in front of her. That's when Remi still going as fast as she was, leaps into the air and watches the boulder pass by only an inch under her feet. As she lands she dodges a tree root and continues running home.
.....
Kiskei strolls around the perimeter at Hashi to make sure no enemies are hiding in the woods. After his father died Kiskei started partrolling the perimeter every night. He wasn't going to let anyone attack the village again. If someone attacked the village they might harm Remi. Hashi had been isolated from the rest of the country for so long that Remi was their only key to the outside world. Neither Kiskei nor Remi knew where she came from. Finding out where Remi came from could help him figure out what has been happening in the rest of their country. Then maybe Kiskei would know if someone sent Remi on purpose or if she only got lost.
.....
Remi gets back to the village and sees Kiskei walking around the perimeter She stops and watches him. After every few feet of walking he'll stop and study the forest. Finally he stops at a point where Remi is right across from him. Kiskei looks up at her and smiles, "You better get inside Remi, it's starting to get late."
"I'm not tired," she replies quietly. Kiskei turns around to go back to his house and waves Remi over to follow him. They quietly walk through the village until they get to Kiskei's house which is in the middle of all the other houses. Remi stands in the doorway and Kiskei sits down in a chair. The chair he sits in is directly under a small light. His raven black hair barely hangs over one of his silver eyes which almost sparkle in the light. Within a few minutes of silence Remi also sits down. She takes her sword off the back of her chair and holds it close. "You still hold that for comfort?"Kiskei asks her.
"I had it when I showed up here and it makes me wonder where I came from. This sword is a piece of my past I hope will protect me,"she answers shyly. Remi looks down at her sword. It's one and a half feet wide and four feet long. The sheath is black with a strange symbol in the middle. Kiskei nods his head in understanding. She runs her fingers over the engraved symbol before putting her sword on the ground next to her chair. Remi hears someone at the doorway after putting her sword down. In the blink of an eye she finds herself standing across from the intruder, with her sword out of its sheath and held in front of her. Remi doesn't remember getting up. She blinks her eyes to see that it's only Yoko, the woman from next door. Remi quickly puts the sword in the sheath and hurries off to her room to go to sleep.
