As I waited for the next contestant I wandered why I bothered, none of these people were gonna be able to catch me. “This is the last contestant,” my teacher announced. I sighed, here we go again. I stood up and grabbed a hold of the bar in front of me just as a boy about my age came around the corner. He had bleach blond hair and ice blue eyes, and I could tell he was athletic by the way he climbed the ladder with just his arms. Showoff I thought to myself. He griped the bar on his end of the trapeze. “This is real simple,” I shouted over the trapeze set. “If you catch me you just might be my partner. If you don’t then get out. Ready?” He waved and I waved back, a signal to say we were ready. I jumped off the platform and started swinging. A moment later he did the same. Then he hooked himself upside down with his knees and waited. I shifted my weight then let go. I flipped, twisted, and turned through the air getting faster and faster, all the while holding my hand up for him to catch me. The boy’s eyes widened when he saw what I was doing then he dropped from his knees and allowed his ankles to hold him onto the bar. His eyes twitched watching my every move until...THERE! The boy threw out his hand and caught mine. I looked up at him with a surprised look on my face. He just smirked and asked, “Would you like to go back?” “Sure why not,” I replied. Then he through me back, I twirreled once and caught the bar. The boy just dropped down into the net. I on the other hand jumped off my bar and onto his, stood up, and flipped off his, to prove that I was still better. I smiled when I landed, “That’s how you get down.” Once we were out of the net and facing each other I extended my hand and said, “My name is Balia.” “Mine’s Sam,” he said extending his hand to shake mine. Suddenly my eyes grew wide with reorganization and I quickly pressure pointed him and twisted his arm behind his back. And before he had a chance to ask what the heck was going on, I kicked the back of his knee sending us both to the ground. I sat on his back as he cursed and asked, “What the heck was that for!” “You slide tackled me today in P.E.” I exclaimed. He chuckled, “That’s right I did.” I pushed his head farther into the dirt and bent close to his ear as I said, “If I were you I would watch my step.” And with that I got off of him and walked away.
