She was just curled up. She was sobbing in the dark corner, arms wrapped around knees. She kept murmuring that she was alone. The dark was overwhelming her. The floor around her was wet with her tears. Yet the tears were dry and stale. Is that possible? Or were the feelings dry and stale. I didn’t care. I had to do something.
“You’re not alone.”
She looked up at me and her tears stopped running. Her eyes began to brighten. Her grip loosened.
“You never were.”
Then more tears began to escape, though her eyes were still bright, her grip now around my shoulders.
I smiled and hugged her back. Tears then ran down my cheeks only to mix with that of hers. Nothing more happened. The moment was too joyous. There was nothing to ruin it.

- Description: I needed a break from poetry. I now realize that my place needs to remain in poetry. This isn't that good, but I was anxious to write something about lonliness.
