Chapter two: The key
“Wow what a story” said Ruby pushing a strand of her Strawberry blond hair behind her ear “yeah” said Bridget who was a tall skinny girl with short dark hair and deep blue eyes. “How come we’ve never heard it before?” They asked “not sure” Jenna answered “maybe It’s because it’s a story from way back” she said a bit unsure. Jenna and her friends made their way around the market stopping at stand after stand and filing up their hand baskets with what ever they could find. “Well” said Jenna “that seems to be every thing on grandmas list.” She placed the basket on the counter and paid the clerk, and then her and her friends headed back toward the cobblestone road.
“Lets take the long way past the clock tower!” said Bridget “It will be fun!” Jenna looked a bit uneasy she didn’t like taking the way past the clock tower because it made her feel as though she were being watched. “Well” said Jenna “only if we promise to stick together and not leave each other behind.” “Okay!” answered Bridget and Ruby in unison. As they neared the clock tower Ruby suddenly got a burst of energy and took off running “Race you to the coffee shop!” she called out to Bridget and Jenna as she ran off “YOUR ON!!” Bridget called out after ruby and ran off after her. “Hey you guys!” Jenna called out “Wait for me!” but Jenna could feel her self tiring easily after all she was carrying a rather large hand basket full of heavy things.
Jenna finally gave up running after her friends and decided to take a breather by the clock towers front door. She found her self a seat and sat down “guess I’ll wait until they get back” she thought to her self as she sat down. While Jenna was waiting for her friends to return she noticed that the sun had broken through the thick gray clouds. “It’s about time” she thought to her self. Just as she was about to settled down and make her self comfortable she noticed something glinting in the dull sun light just a few inches away from her left foot. “What’s this?” she asked as she picked up the shiny object off the ground. “It’s a key!” she said out loud to her self “I wonder where this goes to?” as she looked closer at the key she noticed the initials “Cc” were carved in to it. “Cc?” she thought “what could that possibly mean?” then she turned around to face the clock tower, “Cessal clock tower?” She asked her self.
She went to the front door and jiggled and handle, it was open so she stepped inside “HELLO!?” she called into the door as she stepped in “is anybody home?” she asked, but there was no answer. As she made her way onto the threshold she saw a spiral star case that lead to the top of the tower. “HELLOOOOO!” she called up the stairs, and again there was no answer just the sound of her voice echoing up the stair case. “Ummm…” she said “I found your key, so I’m just going to leave it on the bottom step” she called up the stairs “I hope that’s okay!” and once more there was no answer so she quickly placed the key on the stair case and left shutting the door quietly behind her as she did.
When she stepped out side she was face to face with her friends, “What were you doing in there?” asked ruby handing her a cup of non-caffeinated coffee. “Ummm…I was returning something!” Jenna said quickly “Oh really?” said Bridget “what was it?” “a key” Jenna replied taking a sip of her hot coffee, “so was there anybody home?” asked ruby “nope” replied Jenna “When I called up the stairs to say I had found the key nobody answered.” “I see” said ruby “now lets get home” said Bridget The three girls made their way down the cobblestone road and toward the above ground bridge. Mean while in the c**k tower a hand reached from the shadows and collected the key that Jenna had placed on the bottom step.
“She wasn’t afraid to come in” said a young mans voice “but why?” he asked him self as his shadowed silhouette looked down at the key in his hand. “doesn’t she know who lives here?”
