The Christmas that Santa wasn’t there.
The month of December started out ordinary enough,
Santa was working hard in his workshop, the elves
And the reindeer were helping out too.
It was like being in a zoo,
with toys flying out of the workshop
And reindeer dancing and prancing everywhere.
But something wasn’t right about that Christmas season...
It all started with one day Santa’s magical machine,
that helps make the toys broke down…
“Well Santa I don’t what to say, the thinger mubob is broken
And we can’t get the part for another week...”
-said the head elf.
“Are you sure Bob? We might not be able to get everything done
In time unless the machine is working…
”-said Santa with a sigh.
“Yeah Santa, I’m sure...I guess we have to do it the way we did it
In the old days...by hand...”-Bob shivered at
the words by hand...
“Thanks Bob, I guess we’ll get started...”
-Santa sighed once more
And wandered away back to work...
Santa tried and tried to keep up …
But soon enough one day…
Santa had a heart attack...
He turned blue and flopped at his desk…
I know what you you’re thinking..
And Santa survived.
But as his doctor said;
“Santa you aren’t allowed to move out of bed..”
Santa spurred and spat and cursed and swore...
Until Mrs. Claus walked in the door…
She said with perfect clarity,
Her voice ringing like a bell..:
“Now you silly old man,
You stay in bed...
And rest for once,
Before you break your silly old head...”
And that was the end of Santa,
But I know that you are wondering...
Is that the end of the tale?
No my dears,
It has only just begun...
With Santa out of commission,
And the workshop in disarray...with toys
Everywhere and reindeer on the roof...
It was up to Mrs. Claus to save the day...
She stormed into the workshop,
She put everything into its right place,
She really cleaned up the place...
And after everything was done,
She called a meeting with everyone...
She said things are going to
Be a little different this year...
No more just doing this for
A little bit of Christmas cheer,
No...They are going to have to earn
Their presents this year…
A silence descended over the shop,
All was quiet, not even a plot of snow
Could be heard, from the window…
And then a mighty cheer went up
And Mrs. Claus smiled and smiled…
But all the world didn’t know, that
Christmas was going to be different this year…
Mrs. Claus gathered everyone up and they all started
On the great preparation
For Christmas,
They hummed as they worked,
And smiled knowing grins…
THEN
Everything was ready with 3 days to spare...
Mrs. Claus sent the message on the World Wide Web...
And it went like this;
“To each and all
Everyone who gets presents every year,
It’s going to be a little different this year…
Unless you give us,
The world’s supply of chocolate chip cookies,
There won’t be any presents this year...
You have 2 days to confirm…
Don’t disappoint us...”
The message spread fast and true,
Soon everybody knew...
The world was a chatting,
About the Christmas demand!
The governments of the world,
Called a meeting of the UN
Everyone was there~!
Even countries that weren’t part of the U.N...!
They all discussed it,
And the world waited patiently…
Mrs. Claus on the other hand,
Smiled knowingly
And watched the news avidly…
Santa was out of commission,
Unaware of the new commotion,
Resting peacefully in his bed...
FINALLY
They all agreed,
There was nothing to be done
Indeed...
The call when out;
To the world...
Send all your chocolate chip cookies,
To the headquarters of the UN...
Children cried, as they had their snacks taken away...
Adults sniffed as the packed up the boxes to be sent…
And Mrs. Claus smiled and smiled and said;
Good work boys...
Now the real work begins!
The North Pole had never been so busy,
With cookies arriving every minute of everyday..!
Mrs. Claus and the reindeer loaded up the sleigh with toys
And presents,
And something very special for all who gave cookie...
Soon it was Christmas Eve~!
Mrs. Claus got into the sleigh and zoomed off
She dropped off presents and toys,
And the little something special for
All the little girls and boys...
And the adults... too!
She flew faster than the speed of sound,
Through all the little towns~!
And then she was done,
She flew back home.
As the sun was coming up
She arrived home...
She and the boys sat and had a cookie or two
And waited to see what everyone said...
The world woke up,
To Christmas morning,
With sighs and moans…
It just didn’t feel like Christmas…
They opened up their presents with a lack of care
But then…
They noticed…something..
Something not very tall,
Something small…
The opened it up and what to their surprise~?!
WHY IT WAS A NOTE…
Handwritten of course,
Which simply read..?
Don’t forget my dears,
Even though this comes once a year,
Thank the hard workers
Who help make it happen
Every year~
Peace on earth...and
Good will to all man (and women to)~!
They all smiled and posted messages
Everywhere of love and thanks,
To the hard workers everywhere…
Mrs. Claus was happy of course
She and the boys cheered
And ate the cookies of course...
The moral I suppose~
Is don’t forget,
To thank those who work hard to bring you
The best Merry Christmas every year.
THE END~!
