Chapter 10
We see Stephanie, Martha and Andrea at a cemetery, a week after the incident. Stephanie had just got done placing flowers on her father's grave. During the week they had done proper burials for Father Nathaniel, Andrew and Peter. They were all buried next to each other. The three of them take good looks at Peter's gravestone. 'Beloved Father: Peter Lewis. September 29th, 1964 - May 17th 2010.' read the epitaph. Father Nathaniel's read, 'Follower of Christ, Beloved Son, Father and Friend: Father Nathaniel Beckman. June 6th, 1950 - May 16th 2010.' Andrew's epitaph read, 'Loving Son and Brother. Andrew Spencer, October 20th, 1985 - May 17th, 2010.
Ironically, Andrew's body was never found. It had upset Andrea very much, so instead of his body in a coffin, Martha and Stephanie had helped collect some of Andrew's personal belongings, and placed it in the coffin instead. Andrea had put his old camera, photographs of when he was little and his favorite toy car he loved since he was a baby. Andrea had been moving on from the experience of moving on from losing Brandon and Andrew, but she coped, knowing Martha and Stephanie were there for her.
As they were looking at the graves, a car pulls up on the road. Martha looks over and sees Father Sinclair coming out of the car.
"I'll be right back." Martha told Stephanie and Andrea. They both nod.
Martha walks up to Father Sinclair.
"Good morning Father!" Martha said, happily as she gave him a hug.
"Morning to you, Martha!" Father Sinclair said, hugging her back, "How have things been since everything happened?"
Martha breaks the hug and says, "Things have been alright. I mean, of course, it's never going to be the same without Peter, but...I'm just so happy she made it through...and it's all thanks to you, Father."
"Well, you had saved Stephanie, too." Father Sinclair said, "Your soul was so pure with the love of Christ that it had made the Devil flee himself...you must've had alot of faith in the Lord."
Martha was in a bit of a shock. She had no idea that the Devil had possessed her. She was just glad that she didn't have to see her only daughter like that anymore. She smiles and laughs a bit, "That's what I tell everyone...just keep faith and everything will work out for the better."
Father Sinclair looks over and sees Andrea and Stephanie.
"Has she said anything about what happened?" Father Sinclair asked.
"No...she hasn't, I don't think she remembers...but I think it's a good thing," Martha said. If she didn't remember, she figured that Stephanie hasn't remembered either. "Oh! Which reminds me, we went to the hospital the other day and...she doesn't have cancer anymore!" Martha said, excitedly.
"Wow! That's great!" Father Sinclair said, "May the Lord guide her through the rest of her journey of life then."
"Well said, Father." Martha said, happily.
Everyone has done their part in helping Stephanie out. Father Sinclair was extremely happy that the Lewis family can now finally live at peace without any worries. No more battling cancer, no more exorcisms, they were finally living at ease; they had definatley deserved it.
"I'm very sorry about Peter as well," Father Sinclair added.
"Oh, it's alright," Martha said, "He's in a better place now and I know just because he isn't here with us...it doesn't mean that he still isn't watching and protecting his two favorite women."
Andrea then approaches Father Sinclair and Martha with Stephanie.
"Andrea..." Father Sinclair said, smiling at her.
"Hello Father, it's really good to see you." Andrea said, as she gave him a hug.
"Are you feeling okay?" Father Sinclair asked, "I'm very sorry about Andrew."
"It's alright, Father," Andrea said, "He died protecting me, making sure I was okay. I know he wouldn't have wanted to go out any other way than that."
"I'm very glad to hear that," Father Sinclair said, "He's in a better place now."
"Amen." Andrea said, smiling.
"Stephanie," Martha said, "I would like you to meet Father Sinclair. Talk to him for a few...I'm going to go pay my respects to your father."
Stephanie nods. Martha and Andrea make their way back to the graves. Stephanie and Father Sinclair look at each other. Father Sinclair smiles at her, and right before he can say anything, Stephanie goes and gives him a very tight hug, crying a bit.
"Thankyou so much..." Stephanie whispered. Father Sinclair hugged her just as tight. Stephanie had remembered almost everything, she just didn't want to let her mother know. "Thanks so much for giving me another chance at life...thankyou for not letting him take me away." Stephanie cried softly.
Father Sinclair looks at her and smiles, "I was not going to let that happen...you had alot of support here...and what matters most is that you're okay now."
Stephanie nods and smiles, "The cancer cells are gone too..." She turns around and looks at the grave stones, "I just wish my dad could see me doing better."
Short pause.
"He is." Father Sinclair said. Stephanie turns and looks at him and knew exactly what he meant. She smiles and gives him another hug.
"I have to be on my way now, the church needs me," Father Sinclair said, "Just be safe and look out for your mother, okay?"
"I will, Father." Stephanie said, "I most definatley will."
"Now you take it easy...and I know you could overcome any obstacle that comes your way now," Father Sinclair said, "You've been through so much...now go and do whatever you wanted to do. You have no more worries now."
"And it feels great." Stephanie said. She hasn't felt this good for as long as she could remember. Everyday she found reasons to frown everyday but now, she found the courage to make herself happy everyday. She knew that she was the only one who could do it, and she had never felt so strong. She had overcame cancer and the exorcism.
Stephanie watches as Father Sinclair gets in his car and drives away. They both wave at each other. Stephanie watches the car as it pulls out of the cemetery and onto the road. She then does the sign of the cross and looks up at the sky.
"Thankyou Lord...for not giving up on me." She said to herself. She turns around and joins Martha and Andrea. She was ready to live life like the had never lived it before, and nothing could possibly get in the way anymore.
