• INT. LOBBY.

    Officer Carlos, Nick and Michael are getting their guns
    ready. Damon comes in the lobby. Emily and Ryan are with
    everyone as well. Olivia is by the front entrance of the
    school.

    DAMON
    Where’s Jaxon?

    OLIVIA
    Getting the truck ready. Are you
    ok?

    DAMON
    Yeah, I’m fine. Just a little
    anxious on what’s to be seen out
    there.

    OLIVIA
    Is your family ok with you leaving?

    DAMON
    They took it kind of hard
    but...they’ll be alright. As long
    as they’re safe.

    MICHAEL
    You’re going to need this.

    He tosses Damon a handgun. Damon looks at Michael then looks
    at the gun in his hands.

    OFFICER NICK
    It has sixteen rounds. Aim for the
    head. Saving people out there, we
    learned that’s the only way to put
    them down real fast.

    DAMON
    Got it.

    OLIVIA
    Emily, are you sure you can handle
    going out there?

    EMILY
    Of course. It’s the least I can do.

    RYAN
    As long as she’s with me, she has
    nothing to worry about.

    Olivia pulls Damon to the side.

    DAMON
    (quietly)
    You ok?

    OLIVIA
    (quietly)
    Yeah...just...look after her for
    me? Please?

    DAMON
    She’s ok to go, right?

    OLIVIA
    Yes, but it’s not her I’m worried
    about...it’s her boyfriend.
    Just...make sure she’s safe,
    please.

    DAMON
    Of course. You got it.

    OLIVIA
    Thanks.

    OFFICER NICK
    He’s here.

    DAMON
    That’s our que.

    OLIVIA
    Be careful out there.

    DAMON
    Will do.

    Damon, Emily, Michael, Ryan, Officer Nick and Carlos walk
    out of the entrance door, to Jaxon’s police truck. Olivia
    closes the doors, and watches them as they leave.


    INT. CAR.

    Jaxon is driving through the town, on a backroad. All of the
    houses and cars are abandoned. There seems to be nothing
    left in the town.

    JAXON
    This is crazy...

    MICHAEL
    Looks like a tornado hit this
    place.

    EMILY
    No one’s around...do you think the
    rescue team came already?

    JAXON
    I doubt it...they would’ve came to
    the school too. Either everyone is
    at the school or fled to a
    different town.


    EXT. IN FRONT OF GROCERY STORE.

    Cars are parked all over the place in the parking lot. Jaxon
    stops the car nearby and everyone gets out.

    DAMON
    Weird...just yesterday this place
    had a lot of the infected...now
    there’s nothing.

    OFFICER NICK
    Damn...this can’t be real.

    JAXON
    Everyone remember that the infected
    can be anywhere at anytime. Never
    keep your guard down for anything.

    They approach the entrance to the grocery store. It’s locked
    and the autmoatic doors won’t move.

    OFFICER NICK
    Great. Now how are we suppossed to
    get in?

    EMILY
    I’m not sure. I know that they used
    to lock this place from the inside
    only.

    DAMON
    Maybe we can just go around the
    back or something.

    Ryan takes one of the officer’s gun and shoots the door
    down. The doors shatter down and an alarm goes off.

    RYAN
    Now we’re in.

    JAXON
    Boy, if this was still a regular
    day in paradise, I would’ve
    arrested you awhile ago.

    RYAN
    Hey, I got you through, didn’t I?
    Geez...

    He goes inside. Jaxon and Damon look at each other and
    everyone else walks inside. The alarm is attracting a lot of
    zombies from a distance, and they walk toward the grocery
    store.


    INT. GROCERY STORE.

    Everyone hurries in. The grocery store is clear.

    JAXON
    Okay, Officer Nick, Carlos, come
    with me. We’ll search the rest of
    the store. Damon, Michael look
    after Emily and Ryan. We will come
    back once we cleared the area.

    MICHAEL
    Got it.

    JAXON
    Let’s go.

    Jaxon, Officer Nick and Carlos spread out through the store.
    Emily quickly hops over the pharmacy and looks at the
    perscription tabs.

    DAMON
    What are you doing?

    EMILY
    Getting some antibiotics, pain
    killers, anything so Olivia can
    have to use.

    Jaxon and his team search throughout the area. They see dead
    bodies sprawled throughout the aisles.

    JAXON
    Wow...

    OFFICER CARLOS
    Jesus...did the infected do this?

    JAXON
    I sure hope not...

    Damon and Michael are walking near the deli and checking to
    see if there’s any good food. Damon takes some coffee beans
    with him. Emily hops back over the counter and stuffs the
    perscription in Michael’s bag.

    EMILY
    There...

    RYAN
    Can we hurry it up, Jaxon??

    Jaxon and his team are checking the other aisles. They get
    down to the frozen section. As Jaxon is moving down the
    aisle more, a bang scares him from inside the feezer. He
    sees zombies locked in freezers, banging on the door.

    JAXON
    Jesus Christ...

    Officer Nick and Carlos see what he sees. They all back
    away.

    OFFICER CARLOS
    Should we kill it?

    Pause. Jaxon just looks at it. He backs away more and points
    his gun to the zombie.

    JAXON
    Nick...get the door, please.

    (Beat)

    Officer Nick goes to the door and quickly opens it. The
    zombie goes for Jaxon, but he shoots it in the head. The
    zombie collapses.

    OFFICER CARLOS
    How I would hate to become one of
    those things.

    JAXON
    You and me both.

    Michael looks out the windows and sees the hoard of zombies
    coming.

    MICHAEL
    OH s**t!!

    DAMON
    What??

    MICHAEL
    JAXON!!!

    Emily and Ryan look to see the zombies coming closer and
    closer.

    EMILY
    Oh my God, what do we do???

    RYAN
    JAXON!!!

    Jaxon hears them call him. Jaxon, Officer Carlos and Nick
    quickly run down the store. Suddenly, another hoard of
    zombies come out from the back room and barricade the three
    of them. Jaxon and his team begin shooting at it.

    JAXON
    Quick! GO DOWN THE LAST AISLE! NOW!

    Zombies begin walking in the entrance. Michael and Damon are
    shooting them as much as they can. They keep pouring in.

    DAMON
    RUN!

    Michael picks up his bag.

    MICHAEL
    COME ON!

    The four start running down the pharmacy, to the exit. Jaxon
    comes down the aisle and sees them on the same side of the
    store.

    JAXON
    Guys, get over here, NOW!

    They run to him in one of the clear aisles.

    DAMON
    What do we do??

    JAXON
    PUSH THIS SHELF DOWN!

    EMILY
    But..!!

    JAXON
    JUST DO IT!

    They all use their strength to push the shelf down and it
    crushes a good amount of zombies. Some that didnt get caught
    chase after them.

    OFFICER CARLOS
    We gotta do the same thing!

    DAMON
    There’s more coming from the other
    side!

    Jaxon and his team are shooting the zombies, left and right.
    The hoard of zombies coming from the other side.

    JAXON
    Damon, Michael, Ryan, Emily, same
    technique! Attract them down the
    aisles and push the shelves down!

    EMILY
    That’s crazy!

    DAMON
    We have to do it! come on!

    Michael, Emily, Damon and Ryan run down the other side of
    the store. More zombies are pouring in the store as well.

    Jaxon is shooting more zombies. Officer Nick and Carlos are
    running down the other aisle, shooting and attracting more.

    Michael lures some zombies down one of the first aisles.

    MICHAEL
    (to zombies)
    HEY! OVER HERE! COME ON!

    He starts luring them down an aisle, as Damon is shooting
    zombies from the entrance. They’re getting ready to push the
    shelf down.

    MICHAEL
    NOW!!

    Damon, Emily and Ryan push the shelf down as Michael just
    makes it out as it crushes more zombies. They run down the
    end of the store again.

    Officer Nick and Carlos turn the corner and three zombies
    grab Officer Nick with their claws and rip him apart. He
    screams very loudly as blood splatters everywhere.

    OFFICER CARLOS
    NO!!!!

    He shoots the zombies in the head and kneels beside Officer
    Nick who is bleeding to death.

    On the other side of the store, Michael is luring more
    zombies down the aisle. On the other side of the aisle where
    Damon, Emily and Ryan are in, zombies begin to come after
    them on both sides of the aisle.

    RYAN
    Jesus...

    EMILY
    Michael hurry!!!

    Damon starts shooting the zombies.

    MICHAEL
    NOW!!!

    The three push the shelves down, knocking down three other
    shelves like dominos and crushes more zombies. Before the
    other zombies get to them, they hop over the broken down
    shelves to get to the other end of the store.

    A zombie grabs Emily. She screams and falls and Damon shoots
    the zombie in the head. Ryan and Michael help her up.

    DAMON
    Where’s Jaxon??

    MICHAEL
    I don’t know!

    As they all run down the end of the store, zombies barricade
    Emily and Ryan from Michael and Damon.

    EMILY
    Come on! In the back room!

    She pulls Ryan in the back room with her, and closes the
    door. The zombies turn their attention to Michael and Damon.
    They chase after them and Jaxon sees officer Nick down.

    JAXON
    Move, Officer Carlos! He’s
    infected!

    OFFICER CARLOS
    How do you know that??

    JAXON
    Trust me!!

    Michael and Damon, approaches Jaxon shooting the zombies
    off. Officer Carlos is almost in tears and they see Nick die
    in front of them.

    MICHAEL
    No...

    OFFICER CARLOS
    NO!! HE’S DEAD!!!

    Michael notices zombies getting closer and shoots them.
    Jaxon sees Officer Nick’s eyes re open. He shoots him in the
    head.

    (Beat)

    MICHAEL
    They’re getting closer!

    DAMON
    What do we do??

    JAXON
    Where’s Ryan and Emily?? We can’t
    stay here!

    DAMON
    I don’t know! This place is
    crawling with them!

    JAXON
    Run down through the store, see if
    you spot them!

    They start running through the store, shooting off the
    zombies. Michael almost gets barricaded near the pharmacy,
    but he jumps over the counter. Zombies are reaching their
    arms out, trying to get to him. He starts shooting the
    zombies in the head.

    Jaxon, Damon and Officer Carlos are shooting more zombies.
    They knock down another shelf which crushes more zombies.


    INT. BACK ROOM.

    RYAN
    We need to get out!

    EMILY
    How? They’re still out there!

    RYAN
    They’re as good as dead right now,
    Emily! Can’t you see that??

    EMILY
    They need us!

    RYAN
    We’re not even armed!

    He looks at the garage door next to them. He goes to it, and
    studies it to see how it can be open.

    Emily then looks back at the break room and hurries in
    there.

    RYAN
    Where are you going???

    EMILY
    I forgot something!! Hold on!


    INT. GROCERY STORE.

    As Michael is shooting off the zombies, a zombie pharmacist
    is walking behind him, but he doesn’t notice. As he’s
    shooting them off, the zombie grabs onto him. Michael yells,
    and falls on his side. Michael pushes the zombie away from
    him as the zombie hisses and tries biting him. With one arm,
    he’s pushing the head away and he shoots the zombie in the
    head using his free arm.

    Jaxon and Damon shoot off the zombies blocking Michael.

    DAMON
    You ok??

    MICHAEL
    Yeah, yeah, did you find Emily and
    Ryan??

    OFFICER CARLOS
    No! Maybe they left??

    JAXON
    They wouldn’t just leave!

    Michael hops back over the counter and they shoot off more
    zombies.

    JAXON!
    Come on!

    They head for the exit.

    INT. BACK ROOM.

    Ryan finds a way to open the garage door. He runs out, and
    stops to see there are zombies in the back of the grocery
    store too.

    RYAN
    s**t...

    They all start after him as he runs back in, without closing
    the garage door. At the same time, Emily is running out of
    the break room and sees Ryan running back into the grocery
    store.

    EMILY
    RYAN! WAIT!

    He sees her, but just keeps running and runs back to the
    grocery store, closing the door.

    EMILY (CNT’D)
    NO! NO!!!

    The zombies from the back see Emily and start to chase her.
    Emily runs into the break room, closes and locks the door.
    Ryan is looking at what happened through the door window,
    and runs away.

    Emily is in the break room, crying. She’s trapped and all
    she can hear are zombie growls and screams, as they’re
    banging on the door.


    EXT. GROCERY STORE.

    Ryan comes sprinting out of the grocery store, before
    Michael, Officer Carlos, Jaxon and Damon leave.

    RYAN
    Wait!! Wait for me!

    DAMON
    Ryan! Where’s Emily??

    RYAN
    They got her! She’s dead! I ran
    just before they got me.

    JAXON
    No...please tell me they didn’t!

    RYAN
    They did! I saw it!

    MICHAEL
    s**t!

    DAMON
    Dammit...

    More zombies are walking toward the car. Ryan gets in and
    Michael starts to drive away.

    RYAN
    GO! GO! GO!

    The car gets back on the road and they drive off.


    INT. BREAK ROOM.

    Emily is crawling backward to the corner of the wall,
    crying, as the door begins to budge.

    EMILY
    (crying)
    No...!

    More zombie screams are heard as we see she is left all
    alone as a hundred plus zombies are trying to get her.
