May’s breathing came out unevenly and rushed, how long will I have to keep running from him? May thought, she had been running from this horrible monster all night... She opened her eyes again, frustrated to still find nothing but the bright snow shining in the moonlight, her frozen breath hanging in the air and the tall, lengthy boy that seemed to be stalking her. She could feel his eyes sinking into her back, and it stung like knives being stuck slowly and painfully through…
She turned around and in the nastiest voice she could, said, “Why don’t you just leave me alone bloodsucker!”
The dark silhouette moved closer, until his features were clearly lit by the delicate glow of the moon. Hunter had wavy hair black as the night, and usually, eyes to match. But today however, they were a bit different. His eyes resembled the color of fresh blood that pulsed wildly through my veins at the very moment.
The color of his skin was the complete opposite, almost resembling the color of the snow that crunched under his feet. His sweater was a clean cut, deep sea green with a pair of form fitting jeans. If it weren’t for his horribly obnoxious personality, and his thirst for human blood, May would have actually thought he was cute. His lips curled into a devious smile, showing gleaming enlarged canines. Which once again, through off his totally charming look. His exceptionally long fangs were stained with the blood of his previous victim. Serge of pity was sent down May’s spine at the thought of another life being taken by vampire, especially that vampire in particular. He shook his head, sending his dark locks tumbling into his face, and replied defiantly, “That’s something I cannot do, love-
Before he could continue May yelled back in disgust, “DON’T CALL ME LOVE YOU b*****d!”
Hunter laughed, his angelic laugh the lingered in the air around them, and continued ignoring her, “You aren’t supposed to know about our world, and your dear brother made a terrible mistake about that a long time ago. A mistake I fixed, and will continue to fix if needed.” He crossed his arms above his frozen chest.
May’s heart lurched, all her life she had promised to avenge the murder of her brother and as easily as breathing, he had told her. The thought of her late brother sent chills down her spine as pictures of a mangled, bloody, ripped apart body that barely resembled the friendly face of her brother appeared in her mind. Hunter was the murderer of the only family May had had left. She lost her entire family within the course of a year; her parents had died in a car accident when she was only 12 years old. May was now 14…
May clenched her fists and snapped back, “If you think you’re going to get away with killing Johnny you’re sadly mistaken.”
He laughed an unfamiliar booming laugh again, “Looks like a made the little lady angry, I’m so scared.”
May gritted her teeth, and calculated the distance between them. They were about 10 feet apart from each other, and from where he was standing she had the perfect shot at where his heart should have been. Slowly, May reached the side of her leather belt, feeling for her anti-vampire gun. To her utter surprise, it wasn’t there and she looked back up to Hunter shakily. She swallowed slowly, praying it wasn’t anywhere near Hunter.
But just as she expected, he held her gun. He was sarcastically waving it around, “Looking for this?”
In an unsteady voice she pointed out, “That won’t hurt me,”
He nodded knowingly, “I know that, but I can…
Hunter turned around, throwing the gun as far as he could. He threw it far enough that her eyes couldn’t follow to where the gun was falling after the first couple of seconds… Damn vampire strength! May cussed.
Slowly, very slowly Hunter crouched into a hunting position; he bent down, arching his back towards her and set his hands beside them in a grabbing motion, and his small grin grew into the smile that had haunted her dreams for two long, long years... May’s heart lurched as she realized her fate, and moaned at the thought of becoming a “midnight snack”.
May turned around and ran as fast as she could, letting the cold air burn her lungs as she sucked in each gulp of air. But, it was no use… Within seconds Hunter had slammed his fist into the small of May’s back. At first, it surprised and frightened her, actually witnessing the very strength that his unnatural body carried. The pain scorched and those three seconds seem to go on for an eternity. The pain was just like having molten lava rocks set on her bareback. But as the few seconds went on, the pain drained and she could feel a very uncomfortable nothingness, like free falling into a dark pit that never ended, leaving her as good as paralyzed.
With the last help May could think of, she felt for the small “SOS” grenade her brother had left her with the day he died. As he took his last breath, he had set it into her hands and promised her that if she were ever any trouble, no matter where she was as long as she pressed the button, someone would be there to save her. May believed that and trusted in her brother with all her heart and soul. When she finally managed to hold it steadily, she pressed the small button that was about to send flares of red smoke and fire into the sky, warning everyone of the danger that had been brought out here, and hopefully some sort of help. She prayed that whatever help it was that Johnny had been talking about, that they would be able to save her before it was too late…
When the small package fell from her hands, she could hear the sudden BOOM and WOOSHES it sent into the air. With no doubt, she knew help would be on the way. But the question now, was if they would make it in time…
With the last ounce of her strength, she managed to whisper, “Don’t do this,”
As she was pressed against Hunter’s ice-cold chest, she could feel and hear his hollow laughter, “Now why would I do a silly thing like that?”
The movement sent waves of fresh pain through her body that she was surprised to feel; Hunter pressed his could lips to her neck sending waves butterflies through out her body. He caressed her gently in his arms, and within seconds fangs punctured her skin and sank deep wounds into her neck. As Hunter began drinking, slowly, so very, very slowly, her energy began draining little by little; and soon she could feel her own blood trickling down her neck and to her arms.
She groaned at the sharp piercing feeling, and struggled to keep her body alert and her eyes open. As she fought against the sudden drowsiness her vision began to blur, and her body went limp in Hunter’s arms.
