• It was a dark, cold night, everyone in Modesto were snug tight in their beds. Everyone, except 4 teenage girls: Sally, Cristen, Holly, and Evangeline. Sally, Cristen, and Holly watched with great enthusiasm as Evangeline (the youngest of the four) was blind-folded, trying her hardest to get back to the Martha Krista Reading Room:: the little house in the ruins were The Ladies of the Lake held their secret meetings. The three laughed hysterically as Evangeline walked into a tree, but it was only a joke until someone got hurt. Sally (still laughing) looked out the window just in time to see Evangeline crash through the ice with a huge CRASH and a huge SPLASH! They ran outside hoping to get there in time to pull her out, but they were too late. Evangeline was already down…at the bottom…gone.
