Dear Mom & Dad

• Description: I was told to write a prompt to my parents if I could write them a letter after I was killed by one thing that actually has been killing many teenagers. I chose drunken driving since it really hit close to home. My uncle died from being an alcoholic and my brother almost ruined his life over it. I really love how this came out and I hope you guys like it too.

Dear Mom and Dad, I died today:

I never got to tell you guys how much I appreciate everything you guys ever did for me. You both went the extra mile for me, and all those fights that I started and thought were so important at the time - they all seem stupid now. I couldn't have asked for a better pair of parents, in that aspect I guess God was helping me out.

I know that my death will hurt the family, but we're strong, and always have been.I never got to tell you guys what great parents you were, or even "I love you." In our household, I know those words aren't spoken much. For my brothers, understand that our lives growing up weren't perfect, but nobody's is. Mom and dad did the best they could to be parents and I think they did fine.

One thing I regret is that I took life for granted. I never lived any day to fullest and always did what I wanted when I wanted. The funny thing is, I wanted to teach teens about just the thing I was killed by. Maybe it'll be that much more of an impact about drunk driving. Please tell me story and save other's lives.

Oh, and one last thing, please tell my friends that I'm sorry. They'll miss me. I really hope they can do all the work in school that I usually did.
