    So there was once this HUGE racial discrimination that women must learn sewing, cooking, and other domestic skills. While men on the other hand learned actual skills that could be used in the workplace. Bribes to teacher occured, to better treat parents' kids. For any misbehaviour, or maybe even for fun, students recieved slaps on the hands with a ruler type stick, and some were whipped.

    But then years later, people's minds began to change.

    Women now was able to learn skills, and while men had the option of learning home economics.

    And finally, the parents heard that the teachers were giving students the whippings and such.

    They all went up to the teacher and said:

    "WHY THE HELL are you beating my kid?"
    "Is that something a responsible adult should do?!"

    You can imagine this went on for a while. A long while. So then finally, after who knows how long...

    Teachers finally lost the right to be able to "discipline" students like that
