Beyond our town, two sentinels stand,
An eagle cries of distant lands,
While steep and silent mountain face
Watches over the town and the human race.
The silent and immortal mountain
Speaks in a language of his own,
Whispering of other races,
Ancient ones, before this town.
Eagle, though her life has limits,
Is not rooted to the ground,
So she dances for the mountain,
Soaring up and swooping down.
So, the circle stays unbroken
Like the cliffs, the mountain's art,
Even when brave eagle's dying,
She built nest in mountain's heart.
Now, for avian generations
Eagles come, though eagles go,
And, no matter how long it's been
Every eagle has to know
To, with the mountain, watch the humans,
'Till they need the two no more,
Swooping eagle, stoic mountain,
Though they differ, spirit soars.
