As I look up at the sky,
dark clouds rolling across
a dragon's milky eye
staring at me intently.
Stars sparkling like diamond scales
leave me wondering, softly contemplating
who is truly watching me?
All my life, being in the light
seeing failure after failure
illuminated for all to see...
A wasted life, faded and dusty pages
of a book no one wants to read.
But now, the cooling winds
are swirling around and reminding me
that I am not alone.
Never was I truly alone...
It was like trying to escape
my shadow, the sound of my footsteps,
and tears running down my cheeks
hitting the cold, black ground.
Yet, in my time of need
flowers of hope are blooming at my feet
and a warmth spreads upwards
back to the midnight sky.
So that milky white eye
staring deep into my soul, my heart
is my savior, my grounding point.
The final dusty page of this book,
wiped off and put away!
What I shall be remembered for
will be concrete for all to see
just like my faith in what is above
in a starry sky
and a midnight bright eye.
- Title: Dragon's Eye
- Artist: Naree
- Description: One night, my husband and I were driving home and we looked up at the moon. He is not known for being very articulate or romantic but he looked up and said, "It looks like a dragon's eye watching over us." And that is where this poem came from. Please critique and comment fairly.
