Sticks and stones may graze my flesh
But words shall have no such effect
I laugh at such ignorance
For I know the difference
'Twixt hurt and a deeper pain
I have seen what words have slain
Sentences like a two-edged sword
An unguarded heart will horde
To be unearthed in later days
And used again in vengeful ways
Now those lines hold allegation
Simply await the retaliation
Learn from this, and take heed
Words can make the spirit bleed
