• His strong arms held me tight

    His wings spread wide

    I hid in his chest

    Heart beating wildly

    I had been afraid for so long

    But I trusted him with my life


    He beat his wings

    And we took off into the sky

    I felt my heart lift

    A laugh escaped my lips

    I looked down

    And saw the most beautiful sight

    That I had ever seen in my life

    He smiled down at me

    Just as happy as me


    He settled me on a cloud

    The most perfect and beautiful place

    We laughed all day long

    He looked so happy

    But not as happy as me


    I did everything I could

    To show him happiness

    But I didn’t see

    Or I didn’t want o see

    How he slowly lead me

    Toward the edge


    He smiles so sweet

    He spoke so lovingly

    He wanted to take me higher

    Higher than he could


    With the tip of his wing

    With the lightest touch

    Of his softest feather

    But it was enough

    I fell from the cloud


    I was falling

    Falling so fast

    Fear took my heart

    Before pain took it back

    I fell through the trees

    Branches and leaves lashing at my flesh

    I cleared the last branch

    And I hit the ground

    With a shattering sound


    I lay in the mud

    My body so numb

    But I knew it wasn’t over

    I could feel it already

    A seed was planted in my heart


    The seed was starting to bud

    Its roots invading my heart

    There were times it got more painful

    As the roots pierced my nerves


    But even as I lay there

    Broken and in pain

    Lying in the mud

    I felt these words escape my lips

    I have no regrets
