The starry night lends its light
To show the path among the trees
As the Nightengale sings her secret song--
Aloft, in the willow trees
Silvery splendor radiates from her face,
This child of the night.
As moon beams collect in her wild hair--
All to thir great delight
Thankful, she is for the moon's pale glow
As it illuminates the pond in the willows.
Casting faint shadows of which she calls friends--
Who vow to stay with her till the bitter end
The night wind wisks her hair playfully around her face.
Making the moonbeams envious,
Bringing the girl to sweet giggles of glee.
Dances, she does till the dawn's first light
For after that she scatters
For she is the daughter of the moon and stars
And will not see the daylight ever.
