When you wander through the dim-lit streets
And your weakened heart simply stops
You stare around at the ominous buildings
Then back at the ticking clock
Watching, wanting, sitting, wishing
Hoping to find that only one
Who's smile will warm your cold soul up
Their eyes brighter then the burning sun
They'll be there when you want them to be
Their feet will carry them as fast as they can
So whenever there's a pang of throbbing loneliness
You're sure to find your man
Be patient, for I'm trying my very best
Let not despair cling to your only heart
When I arrive next to you, smiling
Even tired, I'll hold your hand in the dark
Sing you to sleep, I will do for you
That way I know for sure you are safe
Follow your footprints into the shadows
And even out there in deep space

Description:
I really love this poem, even though there's only simple words and it was done out of pure and utter boredom. I might consider entering this in the Valentine's Day poem contest at school, although I doubt I'll win. Even so, I'm very much pleased with it. *smile*
This is my first ever serious love poem. Do not judge my style, and I'd be more then happy to receive a few pointers so I can improve my writing. - Date: 01/25/2009
