• Lying together
    Hands clasped between
    Electricity jumps
    Across our palms
    Flowing through our chests
    Sparking like the sea
    When the sun retreats
    ~
    Red, tart like wine
    Lips clasped shut
    Corners upturned
    A warm breeze washes over
    Cooling the tears
    Pooling between our eyes
    Emanating light
Like the orbs of the sky
    ~
The leaves around us grow silent
    Frozen in the moment
    Crickets chime over our breath
    Slow and shallow
As time drifts to a halt
    ~
    Lightheaded; though my stomach
Has sunk, drowned by the emotions
    That I’m longing to explain
In words that do not exist
    ~
    Our hearts pulse together
    Rhythmic as the tide
    Whispering in a language
    Not known to the ear
    But to the soul
    And in those moments
    More was said in silence
    Than ever was in sound.
