• The monster in people,
it's not a crave for flesh.
    Rather, it is a crave
    for pity, remorse, and sympathy.

    Telling us we're right,
that all others are to blame.
    It cries crocidile tears,
    too real to ignore.

    It tears us up inside,
    the other monsters' side.
    It makes us blame ourselves,
    for things not true.

    We cry in pain,
    writh, scream, struggle.
We soak the guilt, the sorrow,
    and mostly, the love.

    Our monster is us,
    inside and out.
