Lying on the ground
My soul's pleas cried out to you
But I listened to hear no sound.
The tyrant inside,
Chest full of pride,
Took up his lance to strike me down.
My breath was held,
Though my heart filled with dread.
My tears seldom broke through.
When I saw your face just once more
I thought my dream had come true.
'Twas not only my love,
But your comrades
To whom I tried to persuade.
When they chastised me
and called me the blame,
you had not come to my aid.
So the lance struck true,
twice more than it first came,
and it broke my heart
Leaving me the bane.
