A light flickers in the darkness..

what is it?

Perhaps a candle?

I think not.

Something twinkles in the night sky

Could it be?

No, it is only a star.

The earth trembles beneath your feet.

Has the time come?

It's only a small earthquake

How do you know?

Silence fills the thick air and a chill goes down your spine

I don't believe in a happy ending, if there is one it is far away.

You only make it that way.

how can you be so sure?

The night sky starts brightening up, for the sun is rising.

Because, if we had no happy ending would the sun still rise?

I like the poetic styling that you use with your words here. It compliments the subject. Also the two part reactions add an interesting touch to it. My one suggestion would be that you could perhaps find a way to bridge the subjects instead of leaving them disconnected.
