This will be my hymning song:
"With arms I strain to hold
A world within a broken grasp
Whose struggles are too old."
The days were long
A summer scent still lingering in the air
The frozen sea enveloped us
With thoughts we'd fear to spare
Tonight, you'd said, we'd find that place
You spoke of long ago
And when we finally reached the stars
That was when I'd know
A fool as I was back then,
Even in the fading light,
I hadn't had a single thought that
You could possibly be right.
But as we scaled that mountain side
Fingers laced so very tight
My teenaged eyes took in their first
View of unshielded night.
And this will be my final truth,
I'll tell it once, behold:
That if your star eyes fade before me
No one else I'll ever hold.
