A golden glow washes over the already yellow
Arizona landscape,
A mix of pollution and sunset light painting the world
The color of riches.
A manmade lake bounces back the deep reds and golden glow:
An Arizonan sky.
Giant clouds provide a roof that scatters shadow and light
Across the desert floor.
Palm trees sway and dance in the winds of a coming monsoon,
And all I think about
Is when I will hear from the guacamole boy I have
Adored for so little time,
And yet I can’t help but think maybe someday he will be
The one I can call mine.
I can’t stop thinking maybe he will forgive me for my
Stupid traitorous heart.
I can’t stop thinking maybe someday he can forgive me
For lying to myself.
Surrounded by all this beautiful chaos, I can’t stop
Thinking of my own chaotic mistakes.
