[...[ 𝓦𝓮𝓵𝓬𝓸𝓶𝓮 𝓽𝓸 𝓛𝓪𝓷𝓭'𝓼 𝓔𝓷𝓭 ]...]

On the edge of the continent, there is a resort. It houses everything a person should need to be comfortable, no matter what race they are.

One would walk or drive up the path there, and enter to find the entryway both comfortable and stylish. There would be the choice to continue on to the bar and lounge, or book a room for however long they are staying. The enchanted window on the west wall would show whatever scene the owner wished it to show. However, most of the time, it just showed a paradise getaway, with palm trees and a warm breeze.

Going through the door in the east wall would lead to the bar and lounge. There, one can find any drink, served by bots. The seats are comfortable, and the tables always clean. Here, there isn't much room for shenanigans, but there is enough space so that the most claustrophobic can be at rest.

Following through to the balcony, one would find more space on a platform looking over the sea. There would lead to a beach, and a few cave structures that one can explore if they feel the urge.

Back inside, and through the door behind the bar in the bar and lounge, one will find the kitchen. It doesn't have everything that a person could need, but it has enough so that cooks can wander through, and create almost any dish. The fridge is magical, and if one thinks of what they want, it will appear inside.

Though...moderation is needed, as the fridge picks up cravings as well, and will overflow given the proper thought.

Going through to the main room, there is a stairway that leads up to the other floors. Up there, one will find a dozen rooms, all open for people to live in. Each holds the same things, and none are different in any way until a person moves in and makes them their own.

Our groundskeeper is building a garden to the East of the Lands End near the woods.
Come and stay a while.

Heading out of the main building, a path will be found leading to the east. It only takes about ten minutes before you are greeted by the edge of the forest. And just inside, a garden can be found in a clearing. A beautiful waterfall stands in the center, a pond at it's base. Hundreds of flowers exist here.

It used to be, back in the day, that you could find our groundskeeper, Hitomi, flitting about. But she has long since moved on to the Forgotten Alchemist.

Chairs can be found here, as well as a couple of tables. Many areas to relax are scattered around.

There was a garble of static that seemed to permeate the air before the portal opened. A split of green in a sky that it definitely didn't fit in, lingering about six feet above the ground. And even then, it was only for a brief second.

Long enough to dump a woman out unceremoniously into the sand.

She lay in the sand for a bit, contemplating her life as she stares up at the sky. Blue hair splayed around her, gray eyes focused on nothing, she just wondered about herself for a moment. She wondered, honestly, if there was something wrong with her brain. Or with the ways that she decided was fine for travel. Really, paying a shabbily dressed mage in the streets of a city that you couldn't pronounce the name of was probably her first red flag. The portal itself had worked, sure. But it left a lot to be desired in ways of dropping you in your location.

That and she was pretty sure that this wasn't where she had been meaning to go.

Sitting up slowly, she spits out a long stream of water, then sighs softly as she looks at the small puddle in the sand between her knees. All things considered, she wasn't sure if that was a side effect of the travel, or some illness she should definitely be concerned about. Resting her hands back in the soft sand behind her, she blinks, looking around.

                                                        The building.

                                                        Land's End.

That's where she had meant to appear.

Guess with the way the portal opened and dropped her, it was perhaps a better plan that she had landed here. Less furniture to break here.

"I wonder... if Leo is still around..." she muses.

Estelle la Roune

Estelle had awoken that morning with the urge to walk somewhere. With no destination in mind, she walked to the nearby beach. After about an hour of walking, a thin fog descended upon her.

As the fog thickened, she found herself singing to alleviate any possible claustrophobia. Not that she is claustrophobic, but just to be safe. She sang for what felt like hours, before the fog suddenly lifted, causing her to stop her steps and her singing.

The suddenly sunny weather revealed a young woman with blue hair sitting on the sand, looking around. There were less than ten feet of distance between the two, and Estelle wasn't sure where she was anymore.

This was a beautifully peaceful place, with a building not far away, though certainly nowhere close to the dilapidated oceanside she had started walking along. Most people would probably be amazed by the serenity of the sight, or even curious about the lone stranger in front of them. Estelle instead felt nothing. No amount of wonderment could move her heart. The only thing that escapes her lips as she takes in the rest of the view is a shallow "Huh."

There was something to be said about the way that a brain could partition out what was important when it really needed to.

However, at this moment, Karina was pretty sure that her brain was just not functioning at all. Pushing slowly to her feet, she grimaces, dusting the sand off of her clothes. She was wearing a pair of blue loose fitting pants that were pulled tight to her ankles, and a black off the shoulder top that flared around her arms, covering her to her fingertips. Her black sneakers had little white wings painted on the sides, and sank into the sand easily as she looks herself over.

                                                        No damage.

                                                        Just confusion.

                                                        Typical.

Looking around, she blinks as her gray eyes focus on the other resident of the beach. Resident? Visitor? Whatever word fit there, she was sure it was a good one. Letting the options mull through her mind, she continues staring, the sea breeze doing nothing to lessen the weirdness of her just staring like a loon while her brain caught up to how to person.

Plus part of her was pretty sure that there was something else ready to come up after that water that she had expelled moments before.

Dusting off her hands, she considers for a moment longer, then waves one hand jauntily, her smile spreading.

"Hey... you..." Yep that was the whole awkward thing. Like her brain had decided on a greeting and her mouth went ahead with the idea before there was full agreement on what to say out loud.

Estelle la Roune

Estelle takes a full ten seconds of awkward silence to take in the stranger's greeting. Was it a greeting? She honestly wasn't sure, not having spent much time around people lately. The less she interacted the better, especially with what's been described as a permanent scowl on her face.

Without a word or hesitation, Estelle gives the stranger a wide berth, especially since the girl is looking a little green. She is mildly surprised at how little her heavy boots sink into the sand, and is glad her shirt is short sleeved. A shirt and some dark green high-rise shorts was all the clothing she currently owned, having departed without much thought or preparation.

Her gaze focused on the building, she begins heading for what looks like the front entrance of this place. She pauses halfway there to stare up at an odd tree. Tall with wide leaves only at the top, Estelle had never seen such a plant before.

A few questions race through her mind, including how she could possibly have travelled what seemed like an impossibly long distance without having realized it. Had the fog had some mystical properties? Did it have something to do with her singing and being half Siren? She'd stopped singing almost immediately as the fog had let up, so could she potentially have gone farther?

Just as quickly as she wondered, she realized she didn't care. At all. If she'd truly cleared a good deal of distance in just three short hours, she should be glad. The further away she was from the cruelty of what she had once called home, the better. Not that it really mattered. If someone sought to do her harm, it wouldn't matter where she is.

The girl walks wide around her, and Karina contemplates that for a moment, then shrugs. Honestly, it tracked. All things considered, she was looking rather peaky and she had stared like a creep for a few moments too long, she was pretty sure. Checking herself over one more time, she nods, then shrugs again, turning on her heel and wandering towards Land's End. As she walked, the queasy feeling faded, and her skin returns to it's normal tan.

How long had it been since she had been to this place?

                                                        Ten years?

                                                        Fifteen?

                                                        More???

She was terrible at time. Though, she supposed she would be better at time if she stopped being distracted by projects. That last job... it had taken a while and a lot of research. And then, she had to learn to play the banjo, obviously. And the harp. And before she had known it, the guy who had hired her to decipher the whole mess of a manuscript had died!

Was that a problem? Most likely.

Had he already paid her? Absolutely.

Had anyone contacted her to complain? She wouldn't know because she did not check her mail.

She catches up to the only other person she could see for miles, though she couldn't actually see miles, and she clasps her hands behind her back, leaning forward slightly to look at the girl's face. Gray eyes with a blue ring around the pupil focus on the girl carefully before she tilts her head slightly.

"You seem perplexed," she quips. A grin spreads across her features, and she looks forward, continuing towards the main building. After all. It had drinks. And snacks!

Estelle la Roune

Estelle slowed her pace when she heard footsteps approaching. She didn't want to be too rude, nor continue having potentially negative interactions, especially in such a strange new place. Anyone else would be fascinated and curious, Estelle quickly realized. Though her only priority is finding out some information, since that was often the one deciding factor of her survival. Traveling alone had only made her more cautious, and much more wary of strangers.

As the girl tilts her head almost to match the stance of her body, Estelle can't help but think it's a cute act being put on. Not that she hates it. Her brow furrows just slightly, however, a minor tick she'd developed to hide her true feelings. This was not the time for her cheeks to redden because of such a simple act.

The statement almost threw her off. Estelle had expected a question, but was instead analyzed. Not that her face would show it, of course.

"This place seems much farther than where I was earlier," is all the explanation she gives before looking straight ahead. She's doing her best not to trip on the unfamiliar terrain, and speeds up her pace just enough to outpace the stranger as her heavy boots find it easier to traverse the path than her mind. Estelle keeps expecting something to jut up just below and trip her, or for some unknown creature to attack her. That's how she's survived so long, after all.

She considers the girl's answer for a moment, her pace staying that same sort of meander that she always used. Folding one arm across her chest, she uses the other to tap her cheek. Karina mulled over the thought, letting it percolate. Seemed much farther.... Something about that tingled in the back of her mind.

Like she should have known something about that.

Then, a shrug later and she chuckles. "Honestly not the first time that's been said around this place." Though, she supposed that was usually the other place, not Land's End.

Dropping her hands to her sides, she checks her hips then, sighing in relief as her pouch was still there. Opening it, she looks inside, doing the checklist of items. Wallet? Check. Wand? Check. Handful of rocks?

                                                        ....handful of rocks.

Pulling them out, she looks at them and blinks, dropping them slowly to the sand as she continued towards Land's End. Reaching the steps, however, she jogs up them, reaching the balcony and heaving a small sigh. Since they were coming from the ocean, they were using the balcony doors rather than the front doors.

But that was nice because it was that few less steps before drinks.

She steps inside the doors, groaning as the ac hits her skin first thing. Wandering to the nearest table, she sinks into a chair, a chuckle escaping as the first bot comes out, swirling around her head, letting out a series of beeps.

"Why hello again. I'd love a huckleberry spritzer, if you please." She chirps the words to the strange little flying machine, watching as it hovers around, as if waiting for the other patron to order before it flits off to do it's business.

Estelle la Roune

Not the first time? Estelle momentarily wonders if this particular place has some ability to transport people to it. Probably, she quickly decides. It's not even the strangest thing she's experienced this month.

As they enter the building, the blast of cool air sends a brief shock to Estelle's system. She definitely hadn't been prepared for it, even though her current companion barely reacted to the change in temperature.

When the small robot approaches the table, Estelle jumps back half a step, one arm raised as if she's going to defend herself or something. When the blue-haired girl places a drink order and the little bot just stares at her, Estelle suddenly feels self conscious.

Lowering her arm slightly, her other hand pats the small bag at her hip. She feels her cheeks fill with a bit of color as she realizes what kind of place this is.

Slowly, quietly, her voice eventually comes out, aimed at the little bot. "Sorry, I'm not carrying any money right now."

She leans forward against the table, laying her head on her arms for a moment. The travel had taken it out of her. Though, not in the way she expected. Maybe that sketchy mage had done something else with the spell. She felt... off.

Maybe it was just the transfer from warm to AC. That could be it.

Looking at the girl as she speaks, Karina blinks, then sits up carefully. It had been a while since someone new was around. It's not like it was publicly posted. And really, without Kent lurking around the corners, it wasn't as if the rules were all that apparent to anyone who wasn't used to places like this.

Places run by sassy technology and magical happenstance.

"If it helps... place is a haven. Runs off donations and the whims of some old rich guy. 'Bots wouldn't take payment even if they could." However, she supposed that they might just be very able to do so. With the trays and all...

Though, then, would they just dump the money someplace? How would they get change? A small frown crosses her face as she considers it, and then she tilts her head to the side, squinting at the bot that had been so helpful so far.

Blinking out of that rather strange train of thought, she focuses again on the girl, her smile returning simply. "Drinks, food, and a place to stay, should one want it. No charge. Just... available." She lifts one finger, tilting her head to the side with a grin.

Upon hearing the explanation of this haven's rules, Estelle again responds with a simple "huh." She certainly never expected any place that could just exist for others to use like this. Wherever this is, it suddenly feels worlds away from Rat's Cove.

"Make it two, then," Estelle speaks flatly to the flying robot. She still wasn't convinced it wouldn't attack her for something in exchange and only visibly relaxes a bit once it hovers way.

Taking a seat next to this well-informed stranger, Estelle decides that she has at least two questions she wants answered. "You seem to know a lot about this place," she observes almost too casually for the situation. "My name's Estelle, by the way," she extends a fist bump towards the girl, like she did with her brother when they were children.

A soft chuckle escapes as she watches the bot zoom in two circles around their heads before heading off to wherever they made drinks. She now realized that she had never investigated that. Last time, she had been far too enthralled with the caverns, and had spent most of her waking hours there, standing amidst the cathedral-like setting.

That was a long time ago, she realized.

And at this point, she wondered if anything else had moved into the place. Open floor plan like it was. Though she supposed not many people would look at a whole a** cave like it could be anything but a cave.

Reaching out her fist, she bumps it gently against the girl's extended knuckles. Her smile spreads, gray eyes lighting up with what seemed like pure happiness. It was an odd feeling against her rings, she decided. She was wearing multiple on each finger, but the dainty set seemed almost like it all belonged together, the mixture of blue and green stones small.

"Karina. Halstead. But most everyone calls me Rina." Like all the people who used to be here. The room was clean, but it felt strangely empty. Looking around, she lets her smile soften, shaking her head.

"And... I know a lot about the place because it used to be home." She speaks quietly, her tone wistful. Then, a few blinks and she looks back to the girl, letting her smile spread again. "It's a pleasure to meet you, Estelle." She folds her fingers in front of her on the table, her rings clinking together.

Estelle la Roune

As ring adorned fingers bump into hers, Estelle is suddenly very aware of how different this young woman is compared to her. She looks healthy, intelligent, inquisitive, and she's friendly to boot. Estelle had never felt like any one of those things in her life, let alone all of them at the same time. She manages a small smile for the briefest moment.

"The pleasure is all mine, Rina." She tried to match Rina's friendly tone but was immediately aware of how flatly it had fallen out of her lips. In an attempt to salvage the situation, she wills her face to return to normal, letting her gaze naturally fall to where the small hovering robot disappeared to. Suppressing the urge to clear her throat, she gets on with asking some questions of Rina.

"How long ago was this place home for you?"

Too much too fast makes me want to disappear.
