Cain
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
He walked into the stairwell. 'Time to go up.' He closed the door and launched himself straight up to the second floor. Landing with a soft thud, he walked down the hall to find his room; completely empty, but for a blanket an a bag. All his stuff was there. He knew it. He was the only one who could reach this place after all.
This building had been abandoned for the passed 15 years. Those years were added to the 12 years of dissarray and neglect it had seen before it closed. All that time had taken a toll on the stairs, collapsing them all onto the first floor. The only ways up were either a precarious climb or a sturdy ladder. Well, for a normal person anyway.
Outside, the wind picked up even more, biting at any bit of expsed skin. The clouds of day dissolved, exposing a bare, black sky. A full moon rose ominously over the sprawling city. Our unknown, Cain, sat in the utter safety of his room. 'I just barely made it. But still, at least I made it. No moon for me.'
Cain is no ordinary man. Ordinary men don't avoid full moons. Those who look like him didn't see this 50-year-old building being built. Cain is different from most people in this city. Cain is a werewolf, and tonight is the full moon.
'I'm glad Master Danali was right. No moonlight on me. No transformation. Makes life easier and ever the more complicated.' Cain sat on his bag, head in hands. Life really was ever so complicated for him. Keeping other werewolves out fo his territory, making it in before the full moon rose, trying to avoid contact with the weirdos downstairs. Not to mention avoiding being *apprenticed. 'What am I gonna do?' He gave up. His problems were too complicated, and with the dayhe had and an empty stomach, he was ready for rest. Sleep crashed down upon him as the buzz of city life drown in the darkness.
