From January till now quite a bit has happened. If only I could remember half of it right now.
March brought a new quarter at ITT and with that new classes. I have been taking Comp 1, Network Standards and Protocols, and MS Desktop OS XP. So far I think the only one I'm displeased with is the latter. As of the start of this quarter I'm proud to share I have a 3.5 GPA! This quarter is soon to end for me, finals are this week or the next, final projects and papers are finished or soon to be.
In may, I turned 20. Overall I didn't do much to celebrate. My private party was very exciting. I'm finding with each passing year my birthday becomes less important to me. As a small child I remember waking up and screaming in joy, and I would count down the days beginning in March. Now I don't even anticipate it. "Oh, my birthday is this week." -Me
Most recently, I hung out with Leigh a few days. She convinced me to watch the band. I stopped to see a practice or two, including the tuesday run throughs before Fair day. She's back at IU now. At home I've been working on re-reading the Hobbit, reading Passage to Dawn(I'm stalling on that), and researching all things Dwarven. For those caught unawares, I've frozen my WoW account. Saturday it's final. I feel a little guilty leaving my guild shorthanded an OT in a time of need, but it was time I separated myself from the game again. I don't think I'll be back to it ever. I missed out on Gen-Con this year, sad to say, but circumstances were unavoidable. Perhaps next year. Note to self: Buy full-contact weapon to combat Zach.
I've also been occupying myself recently with Roleplaying. Zach started a Conan [the Barbarian] campaign where I am playing the party's thief. The setting is awesome, and I really enjoy the way combat was revised. Armor and defense are quite different. Rather than 3rd ed.(which this game is based on) chance to hit is not based on the opponent's AC. Effectively, that made a person wearing full plate harder to hit. I suppose it makes them harder to hit effectively and deal damage to... In Conan you have a defense value(DV). You ad dex or str to make dodge or parry values respectively. Your opponent rolls against your dodge or parry(whichever you declare) and that is how hits are rolled. Armor is purely damage reduction, down to 1 point. Through finesse mechanics however, everyone is naked to me. biggrin On the side we're looking at running a 2nd Ed. Campaign or Zach's newly purchased "World's Largest Dungeon." Last night we hung 16 poster sized maps of it(arranged 4x4) on his wall. Whichever we try, I believe I shall be playing a dwarf. My new creation for the Fighter's Challenge has inspired me! I may directly clone that very character for table-top useage. Right now he's a Barbarian of sorts, though in a D&D setting I'd like to see him develop into a Barbarian/Fighter combo or a Dwarven Battlerager.
