On a cold, snowy day I decided to go for a short walk with my Puppy. His name was Trever; he was a Mountain Bernese. He had long furry legs, with a long bushy tail. Before we walked out the door I patted Trever on the head and told him, “It’s going to be a little Icy! So we need to be careful where we walk.” Trever barked in approval. “Good Boy!” And I opened the door and walked into a winter wonderland as some people may call it. There was at least 2 feet of snow already on the ground and it was still coming down. Trever ran out the house nearly tripping me on the Icy steps. You could tell he was very curious about the cold, squishy stuff on the ground. After all this was his first Christmas! “Trever, C’mon silly boy!” I said and grabbed the end of his leash. Which he wasn’t very pleased to wear. We walked pass bus stops and the old church. We basically walked until we couldn’t walk anymore. “Shall we go home boy?” I asked Trever, but he was busy trying to catch the falling snowflakes. I sat on the bench and just watched him. Finally, I glanced at my watch and it was already 5:30. “Shoot, I’m going to be late! C’mon Trever.” I said and yanked his leash. Trust me from sitting in the freezing snow for a half hour; Trever was excited about going home. Every minute it seemed like it was getting darker. Finally, I couldn’t see the sidewalk anymore. “Trever, are you okay?” I asked as I saw him shivering. He barked. We kept walking in the same direction hoping we were going the right way. “I’m sure to be late now. Mom is going to kill me!” I said to myself. Feeling cold, and hungry Trever and I shivered up the street. “Chasidy!?” I heard my mom yell in the distance. “We must be close to home.” I said to Trever who was already galloping towards mom’s voice. I have to admit he was one smart dog! All of a sudden, I slipped on the ice and started rolling down a hill. It felt like forever until I finally stopped rolling. I weakly sat up to see where I landed, but of course I couldn’t see anything. Then it hit me! “Trever!” I yelled searching wildly in the snow. “Trever!” I yelled louder. I dug in the snow until my hands were numb. After a while I gave up. He’s probably frozen by now, I thought; as soon as I got my head hit a low branch of a tree. “Ouch!” I said and rubbed my head. Good thing no one saw that, that would have been embarrassing! I thought. Cold and Numb from the snow I walked about 2 miles, and then stopped to rest. “Trever, where are you?” I said and looked up at the sky. It was still snowing, and probably about like 9 o’clock. I need to find a place to rest until morning, I thought. So, I walked to I thought was a hollow tree, and crawled inside. Inside the tree trunk, it was a little warmer, small, and it smelt of musty wood. I didn’t really care; I was too tired to care. I could feel my eyes get heavier and heavier. I finally fell asleep.
