I found this thread:
Hey kids, it's Tektek your characters night--only this time you have to use your brain! Here are your instructions:
1. Go to Tektek and click on the avatar creator 2. Create an avatar and dress it up like your character 3. FUN PART! Find items that express something about your character's personality and add them to the avatar (ie, a pencil for artistic characters, emotion bubbles, ect) 4. Post the tekteked version of your character and talk about why you picked the items you did. Talk about how they show your character's personality 5. You can also add details like race, gender (should be obvious), age, etc, but it's not necessary. The point is for you to think about your character's personality traits, not just their obvious physical traits.
I like the idea, and want to keep track of them soooo...
Kayla
- The heart of gold represents her forgiving and accepting nature, as well as the love she feels for her new "family", the alien crew she has become part of. - The teardrop represents her grief over the death of her parents. - The music note represents her love of music... duh. xp - The skull is her desire for revenge against the people who killed her parents. - The sword represents her new abilities to fight and, if need be, kill her enemies. She needs these skills to survive, bu is not entirely comfortable with them, because she believes that people are basically good and deserve mercy. - The bandage represents all the physical and emotional wounds she has endured. - The baby alien represents Chup, a childlike creature she has taken under her wing. She spends a lot of time caring for him, and he is very loving towards her in return. - The galaxy represents... the galaxy, basically. From a happy, sheltered life she has suddenly been thrown into the huge, chaotic mess beyond Earth. At times it makes her feel helpless and pathetic. - The mechanical wings represent Chaddak (the spaceship she now lives on) as well as the way she grows and the talents she discovers as a result of her expiriences. - The demonic pendant represents the cruel, mercenary captain of the ship, and their growing connection to eachother. Not quite a friendship, but maybe someday...
Enna
- The mood bubble represents her usual mood and feelings toward almost every person she's ever met: "You're a sniveling, moronic waste of oxygen. Get away from me before I decide to put you out of your misery." - The swords represent her skill in battle and her bloodthirsty nature. The bloody one is her brutal, hateful, and occasionally sadistic side. The frostbite blade is her cold, detached, and harshly elegant side. - The crown represents her ability to command and take charge of a situation. It also represents her few upright qualities - she is honest and always keeps promises. - The dragon represents her spirit - terrifying, powerful, independent, uncontrollable and unshackled. She can be hideous and beautiful at the same time. -The angelic pendant represents her growing connection Kayla, the human girl who has recently joined the Chaddak crew. Kayla is slowly becoming Enna's one softspot.
Makura
- The pilot hat represents... the fact that he's a pilot? It also symbolizes his childishly adventurous spirit. - The mood bubble is his confusion and unsureness. He's actually very naive and inexperienced, and is sometimes unsure of what to make of the confusing events around him. - The laptop represents his love of electronics and video games. He actually learned how to fly by playing flight simulators as a child. - The fluffy slippers represent his love of sleep and relaxation. His greatest fault is his laziness... he'll spend a whole day in bed i given the chance. - The leaves represent his agricultural background - he grew up on a farm. He left home for adventure and the chance to be a hero, but at heart he's still very much a simple farm boy. - The heart necklace represents his kindness, as well as his openness and honesty.
Chup
- The blanket represents his childlike nature - his brain function seems permanently stuck at the level of a toddler. He only has a basic grasp of language, and usually doesn't understand what's going on around him. He's also quite eccentric - sometimes what he says makes sense, other times it comes across as nonsense ramblings. - The shield represents his resilience. His skin is made of an extremely tough metallic substance, so it's pretty hard to damage him. He's mentally resilient as well - he forgets traumatizing experiences in a few days, and insults just bounce right off. - Chup loves cookies. OH HOW HE LOVES THEM. He's constantly hungry and will eat just about anything, but cookies are the best. - The heart represents his loving nature - he's very sweet and affectionate toward those who take care of him. - The horseshoe represents his good luck. He has a way of stumbling into dangerous situations constantly, and yet somehow he always manages to get away without a scratch. - The horns represent what a pain he can be. Like any child, he's very needy and often annoying. - The halo represents how wonderful it really is to have him around. Chup has a way of making people forget, at least temporarily, all their problems and worries. He's a ray of sunshine in the lives of the Chaddak crew.
Teva
- The hammer and screw represent her profession - she's a talented mechanic who's job it is to keep the spaceship flying. - The broken heart represents her anguish over the loss of her family and practically her entire species. They were a peaceful people attacked by an ambitious, warlike race, merely as a show of force. Her planet was decimated, and the only people left are those that were off-world at the time of the attack. - The scarf has a double meaning. It symbolizes how Teva is wrapped up and trapped in her grief. She can't seem to move past her loss and go on living. She cannot live in the present or look to her future - she can only mourn the past. The scarf also covers her mouth, symbolizing that she is mute, as is her entire race. The only way she can talk is through a headset that hooks into her brain and projects her words through speakers. - The angel wings represent her kindness and compassion. She has no hope or motivation for herself but cares deeply for the wellbeing of others, and tries her best to comfort and give advice to those in need. Her will to go on living comes entirely from her compassion for others. - The lunar belt represents her love for her people and her planet (the planet is famous for it's two huge and beautiful moons, and her species' major religion is closely tied with lunar cycles). She works tirelessly to raise money for an effort to rebuild their civilization. Though she knows she will never heal, she hopes that her species as a whole will. - The sword represents her determination to save other species from the same fate. Whatever it takes, she will not let anyone else suffer as she has suffered.
Lulu
- The dog tags represent her military background - she was born into a career military family and was an admiral at one point. - The head bandage represents her brain damage. No, seriously - during and enemy attack, she received a severe blow to the head. She survived, but it "knocked a few screws loose" as she is fond of saying. - The skull represents her occasional homicidal rages - that blow to the head took away most of her self control, so when she gets mad, she's likely to attack anything in her line of sight. - The squiggle mood bubble represents her chaotic mind, and her frustration at not being able to control herself. - The sword represents her love of weaponry, whether it be modern or traditional. - Pretend the strap is filled with grenades instead of stakes. Lulu loves explosions, and can make a bomb out of just about anything. - The fiery wings represent her unpredictable, uncontrollable, and often dangerous moods. Her temper can flare up at any unexpected moment and she is capable of being very destructive. They also represent her pyromaniac, bomb loving side. - The Kiki plushie represents the softer side of her erratic moods. At times she can be very sweet and loving, if still slightly odd. (Note that in her true form, Lulu looks like a large feline, so I thought Kiki was the most appropriate plushie.)
Chid
- The head thingie represents her profession - she's a doctor. What makes her special is that unlike most doctors, who specialize in treating a certain species, she is skilled and educated enough to treat almost any type of life form. - The clover pin represents the fact that she's a plant. There are many animal-like sentient species in the galaxy, but only one sentient plant species. Most of the galaxy is rather prejudiced against plants, thinking they are simple minded and slow. But Chid is very proud of being a vegetable - she thinks being plant-based is much more efficient. - The book represents her love of learning. She is constantly driven to learn all she can about every aspect of life - history, biology, engineering, math, different cultures, art... the list goes on. As a result of her studies, she functions somewhat like a walking encyclopedia - she knows the answer to just about any factual question you could ask. - The briefcase represents her professional, stiff, uptight manner. She doesn't open up or make friends easily. - The specimen jar represents her love of biological research. Her true wish is to be in charge of a research laboratory and run her own experiments. She feels that dealing with patients is a misuse of her considerable talents. - The squiggle mood bubble represents her frustration at not getting to pursue her research goals. She can't work in any major labs or hospitals because of all the prejudice against her species, so she's stuck being a doctor on a tiny, insignificant little ship. - The light bulb simply represents her intelligence - she's a genius in just about any area you can imagine... except getting along with other people. - The vein throb mood bubble represents her usual annoyed mood. She is very impatient with ignorance and foolish behavior. She's usually very prickly and judgmental, and likes to point out other people's flaws. When really annoyed, her temper flares up and she may start chasing the offending party around with a hard object in hand. - The purple scarf (which might be trying to choke her...) represents her ongoing battle with Appa, a fellow crew member she despises. He's annoying, lazy, ignorant and disrespectful, and he goes out of his way to make her life miserable.
Appa
- The laptop and eyepiece represent his love of computers and gadgets - he's a professional programmer and hacker, and loves his job. - The clown shoes represent his sense of humor and his ability to make people laugh - he's funny as hell and loves being the center of attention. - The margarita represents his love of parties and living a cool, leisurely life. He plans to make enough money to retire young and spend the rest of his days "living the good life." - The monkey represents his mischievous, sarcastic side. Often, his jokes and pranks stop being funny and are just plain annoying. And he does love to annoy people, because it means he's still the center of attention. - The broken heart represents the fact that his long time girlfriend recently dumped him. He pretends it doesn't bother him, but he's really pretty broken up about it. - The rat tail is there because... sometimes he can be a real rat. In the end, Appa is only looking out for himself. He's often cowardly and insincere, and he'll betray people if it's in his own selfish interests to do so. And he's certainly not above breaking the law and bending a few moral principals to get what he wants. - The green scarf represents his constant fights with Chid. He can't stand her because she's so judgmental and snobby. He delights in provoking her, even if it does earn him some impressive bruises.
Ai
- The specimen jar represents her talent at genetic engineering. She uses it both to create and to destroy. One of her greatest accomplishments was making an entire race genetically programmed to obey her. Another was the construction of a virus that destroyed the race responsible for her own creation. Ironically enough, she is actually the product of genetic experimentation - one scientist's attempt to make the perfect pet for himself. He was the first to go. - The light bulb represents her brilliance. Other than being a gifted scientist, she is also a very good judge of people's personalities, motivations and reactions. She has the uncanny ability to predict the big picture outcomes of galactic events. As a result, she is a skilled "puppet master" who knows just what strings to pull to get the reaction she wants. - The sunglasses represent her secretiveness and deceptiveness. She's a brilliant liar. Even when telling the truth wouldn't be harmful, she conceals it almost compulsively. Also, in her real form she has huge black eyes, so I thought they were appropriate. - The halo represents her image of herself. She sees herself as a sort of savior, and she believes it is her destiny to bring peace, order, and perfection to the galaxy. But it will be her concept of perfection, and she will bring it about by any means she deems necessary. - The cloud represents her belief that she is above everyone else. She sees herself as the crown of creation, a single perfect being in a world of flawed and limited creatures. - The orbital rings represent her narcissism and self-centered view of the world. She thinks that the galaxy should revolve around her, and won't stop until it does. - The crown represents her power over other people, and her ambition to one day became the "benevolent" ruler of the galaxy. - The chain saw represents her unflinching brutality. If she thinks that an entire species needs to be exterminated in order to achieve lasting peace, she'll do it. In her eyes, the end always justifies the means. - The skull choker represents the death she has caused. She has killed billions, but it doesn't weigh on her conscience at all. In fact, she is proud of her efficiency. - The frostbite wings represent her chilling elegance. In truth Ai is a manipulative, murderous sociopath, but she presents herself as rational, sophisticated, and aesthetic.
