So... tiger attack in San Francisco. D:
Apparently they found a shoe and blood in the tiger's cage. Meaning that somebody probably dangled their leg over the cage to taunt it, so they say.
So who gets the Darwin award for this one? My money's on the guy that got killed.
They're saying that the tiger probably got a hold of his leg, and that gave it an extra boost to get over the fencing of it's cage, which was apparently almost 6 or 7 feet lower than it's supposed to be.
Seriously, who dangles their leg over an animal twice their size? When I first heard that there was possible taunting, I didn't believe anyone would be that damn stupid.
I stand corrected.
I find it really sad that the tiger had to die after all of this. Yes, it attacked three people. Yes, it's attacked someone else before. But it's a wild animal, and a natural born predator.
What did they expect? That it would be a big, sweet, cuddly lap cat? No. Why the hell do you think people walk around with masks on the back of their heads in areas where there are tigers living naturally. Because they ARE known to attack people. Just like we eat other animals, there are other animals out there that would kill and eat us without a second thought. That's nature. Deal with it. Believe it or not, we aren't the pointy tip of the food chain.
The fact that's it lives in a zoo and is around people all the time, doesn't change anything. It's still a wild animal, and should have been respected as such.
And on top of that, this particular tiger was apparently provoked. =o
