Today not to long ago on my way home from school I walk down a street lined with food stores, like dairy queen, "freshfruit market"and a large food store called safeway, but thats not the point. Between the freshfruit market and safeway there is a road lined with cars. This road is not fast pace or dangerous yes it has on going traffic but you dont see some crazy drunkard that has a death wish and speeds or the crazy teenagers that are on speed speeding. I don't know why my eyes are so transfixed on the streets today I think I just wished to see something out of the ordinary in my quiet town that has a kerfew to close everything in sight after 6:00pm.Aaanyways my friend and I were talking and walking after a long day of lazing around in chairs and writing notes for hours (I kind of like notes because I draw a lot you know what I mean?)anyways we are walking down the street and my eyes wander when my brain is too fried from knowledge (its a good thing) and I really dont give a damn in the world whats going on around me. I partially listened to my friends conversation about some dinner with her dad and her boyfriend shes going to have in the afternoon (I'm happy for her really am!)My eyes find a dark greyish lump on the middle of street and the first thing that comes to me in mid sentence is...well let me re act it for you...
"oh cool so your walking down by my-wholy s**t!" my friend looks confused and is probably thinking what the ********? I grapple her arm and I can not take my eyes off the lump in the middle of the street she looks and she can't take it off the lump eaither. "oh ho ********" is her reply I follow her reply with the words "oh my god oh my god oh my god-" and so on.
A dead squirrel is in the middle of the street with its head partially crushed neck probably broken, and its body from the neck down perfectly fine the fluffy tail was unharmed. Across the street from us on the sidewalk was a black crow and it was hopping around like it was nervous or annoyed. I didnt pay attention at first I was too transfixed on the dead carcass in front of me to pay attention to anything alive.
Come on who does that?! "hey look its a dead thing oh wow its a crow!" NO! You would be transfixed on that road kill too! admit it!
My friend was the first to snap out of examining the road kill and saw the crow first we lumber down the street a little ways and stood at a bus stop near the road kill and...the crow. At this point my friend and I are laughing slightly I have no clue why, we just were its the way we are I guess. A car goes by and the red light on the cross walk goes on. The crow swoops down and stands in the middle of the street and pauses looking both ways before attempting to get closer to the squirrel. he gets closer pecks at it before the light turns green and he's (I'm guessing its a he because females aren't that stupid. sorry! XD lol) flapping his wings and speeding out of the way of the car as it passes.
My friend and I laugh "is that crow a ******** retard? whats it doing?" I ask "think its trying to get at the squirrel" my friend answers "they dont eat meat do they?" I ask
at this time the crow is going to have an other go at the squirrel
"They'll eat ******** everything man!" she replies "Oh...I thaught that was only vultures" she laughs at me and contenues to watch the epic adventure of the crows quest to get food. my friend and I came to the conclusion we are satists (if you dont know people who laugh at other peoples misery) as we laugh between ourselves. The crow pecks at the squirrel and pulls something long fleshy and stringy out of the squirrels mouth I had no clue what the hell it was from the distance I was at, but I could guess. A car swirves by (yes we have a nature friendly neighborhood)just missing the crow, the stringy thingy that was stuck to the road kill would not come loose and the crow refused to let go. An other car comes straight for them, the crow tugs and flaps with all its might and drags the squirrel two feet before abandoning it on the street. But its not the end, oh no, he would not let the road kill rest. He swooped in again on top of a car, the car stops. it picks up the squirrel squaks and flys away with a piece of it. At this time I came to the conclusion any sane person would be revolted by the idea of seeing this happen. But my friend and I are a different story, that kind of threw me back a bit. I asked myself as my friend and I walked our seperate ways.
was that normal?
I'm still asking myself this same question and the sane answer would be no... a psychologist would say no, your doctor would say no. my ******** YEAH THATS NORMAL! and slghtly I agree with them.
Its odd what you think about on a city street on an ordinary day walking down the sidewalk across from safeway and next to dairy queen on your way home from school.
(wow I wrote a lot O_O)
