your house in the mountains. we'd drive up there for hours and i'd see you. we'd pretend we were adventurers. climb the tallest rock, and call it a mountain. explore caves, only to be yelled at in case of bears. we'd continue to do it anyway. new years was the best. we stayed up together, telling stories. none were true. we sat on the porch and watched the coyotes. we looked at the red moon; fell asleep on each others shoulders. woke up under a blanket on the couch. ran outside into the snowy woods. made a castle and played prince and princess. fought of dragons and terrible beasts, fragments of our imaginations. they seemed so real! but it was time to go home. as i drove away from you, i waved. and you ran down the big hill after us. i wish you could've caught up with us: i haven't seen you since then.
