The Phantom of the Opera is (arguably, since this is an opinion) the most beautiful movie there is. There is no gorefest, no psyche trips, no painful, splintering past (kind of, on one of the characters, but it doesn't contribute much to the story in my opinion). Just great music and a very twisty turny love triangly that seems to be laced with erotica and flaming passions and what not. Lovely, really. If ever a movie could make its audience love the villian, and make him want to triumph (hey, I forgot how to spell triumph for a bit. Then I remembered this line from Happy Feet. "Triumph starts with try, and ends with a great big UMPH!" XD) over the hero, this would be it. In fact, I wanted the Phantom to win, because he honestly deserved Christine more than Raul (who is a pretty boy patron, though a nice pretty boy patron). She could help him, and she would also get to delve deeper into the mind of a musical genius. I LOVE ANDREW LLOYD WEBER. It makes me cry, makes me lonely, fills me up with a certain masochism and adoration at the same time. And the music. All on my iPod. Absolutely breathtaking.
