If you a looking at the above title and scratching your head, don't misbelieve. It's true. I got hacked on this account. xDD
And lemme tell you, it's quite the exciting story. Lemme start. Okay.
I had received a message from an old friend of mine that her account (FluffySamasgurl) had been hacked a few days ago. Today, just a few hours ago, I received a PM from the hacked account. I, however, being somewhat stupid and having a memory that epically fails, looked at the PM. It was asking me to vote for her avatar in the arena. So I clicked on the link and found that "Gaia" was telling me to log back in. So I typed in my username and password.
Then I went back into Gaia and found that I had been logged out. I kept on trying to log back in with no success even when I very s-l-o-w-l-y typed in my password and double-checked my username. Eventually I'd tried to log in so much that I got my IP address banned for fifteen minutes. And then, on cue, I got a message on Gaia from my cell phone telling me that my Lunar Scythe had sold. So, as if me not being able to log into my freaking account wasn't clear enough, an item that I had not put up in the Marketplace had just been sold.
So I immediately asked Gaia to give me my 'forgotten' password. And, despite all of the other times Gaia has shitted out on giving me that necessary e-mail to reset my password it actually came through for me (while I was sitting there thinking it wasn't going to work like all of the other times). So I reset my password but, due to me trying to log back in before I'd gotten myself banned.
But by some saving, retardedly awesome grace, Rose (username Fool Me Twice) was talking to me on IM. (He'd also had the courtesy to tell me that my avatar had been changed to look like a giant eyeball with a red shirt. xDD ) I gave him my changed password and asked him to log into Gaia for me. At which point I received ANOTHER message on my phone telling me that my Demonic Anklets had been sold.
So he logs into MythicalYoko while someone by the name of bspaboy418 IM's me telling me that they're an Omni moderator on Gaia named kekeke. As I talk with him Rose tells me that a lot of my items are up on the Marketplace, including my Kiki Kitty which was up for 700k. He speed deletes all of the items up on the Marketplace, thank CRAP, prevents anything else from being sold. Meanwhile I'm wondering if the hacker is still on my account- because I know that I've been able to access MythicalYoko on another computer when I've been on Remember Me on my personal laptop and had never been erased on my personal laptop IP address. So I asked the Omni if he could see if the hacker was still on my account. He tells me that he sees only one IP address on MythicalYoko. So... the hacker is gone, apparently.
I was still really, REALLY frazzled. It'd only been like ten minutes but may I tell you that I had a real good dose of adrenaline. xDD I wasn't entirely sure if my account was still safe but Rose logs out and gives me the new password that he'd made. Then I continue talking to this Omni moderator on AIM.
Now, I don't know about you, but when I received a message from this "Omni moderator" on AIM I didn't trust them immediately. I'd never had anything like this happen to me before, even when I'd had a similar problem of being unable to log into my account in a previous situation, so I wasn't sure how they'd been able to tell that there was "suspicious activity" on my account and such. And in case you're curious about the conversation, I have it RIGHT here. No way I was going to erase this piece of gold. xD
bspaboy418 (2:24:18 PM): why. hello there. bspaboy418 went away at 2:24:43 PM. Mirasaros (2:24:58 PM): ? Hello?
Auto Response from bspaboy418 (2:24:58 PM): school work at 5. here in between.
bspaboy418 (2:25:17 PM): I was just on gaiaonline.com, see. bspaboy418 (2:25:26 PM): and I noticed something funny about your account. bspaboy418 (2:25:31 PM): making sure you're aware of it Mirasaros (2:25:34 PM): Yeah, it's been hacked. bspaboy418 (2:25:42 PM): oh so you do know? Mirasaros (2:25:45 PM): -nods- Mirasaros (2:25:52 PM): Currently I'm fending it off. bspaboy418 (2:26:00 PM): ah I see. Mirasaros (2:26:38 PM): Who are you? xD bspaboy418 (2:26:40 PM): this is kekeke, omnimoderator on gaia. Mirasaros (2:26:45 PM): Oh! Mirasaros (2:26:52 PM): I see. bspaboy418 (2:26:56 PM): that's why I knew. bspaboy418 (2:27:02 PM): xD Mirasaros (2:27:20 PM): I had a friend log into my account to fix everything, but I'm not sure if the hacker is still there. bspaboy418 (2:27:52 PM): are you AND your friend logged into the account at the same time? Mirasaros (2:28:00 PM): No. bspaboy418 (2:28:07 PM): ok one second. bspaboy418 (2:28:40 PM): no, it appears that only one IP address is currently online MythicalYoko Mirasaros (2:28:46 PM): I tried to log in several times which got my IP address banned and then I got PM saying that my Lunar Scythe was sold, so that's how I figured it out. xD So I changed my password and asked my friend to log onto it, which he's done. Mirasaros (2:28:55 PM): Mmm? Okay. bspaboy418 (2:28:58 PM): Ok. Mirasaros (2:29:00 PM): Phew. bspaboy418 (2:29:01 PM): Great. Mirasaros (2:29:14 PM): Wow. That was an adrenaline rush. xDD bspaboy418 (2:29:27 PM): Ha. No worries. bspaboy418 (2:29:54 PM): I'm just here to remind you to watch out for messages containing links. Some may be from friends, but those friends may not have the heart you always saw, you know? Mirasaros (2:30:04 PM): Well, see.... Mirasaros (2:30:19 PM): A friend of mine sent out a message that her account had been hacked, a few days ago. Mirasaros (2:30:32 PM): But I forgot and when I got a message from the hacked account I clicked the link. xD; Mirasaros (2:31:07 PM): It was to vote for her in the arena. Eegh, man. bspaboy418 (2:31:25 PM): Ah, well, at least you did the right thing by regaining your password via email. bspaboy418 (2:31:34 PM): It's good I caught you online. Mirasaros (2:31:45 PM): Yeah. I'm glad I was sitting here on my PC. xDD bspaboy418 (2:31:50 PM): It's too risky to contact you by ingame messaging. Mirasaros (2:31:57 PM): Yeah, I gotcha. bspaboy418 (2:32:15 PM): Now for the updating of data. Mirasaros (2:32:18 PM): xD bspaboy418 (2:32:38 PM): There were password changes from 'guardian72' to 'ownedbyme1' bspaboy418 (2:32:49 PM): I beleive the "ownedbyme1" is the hacker's. Mirasaros (2:32:51 PM): xDDD Mirasaros (2:32:53 PM): Yeah. bspaboy418 (2:33:22 PM): Okay. Great. bspaboy418 (2:33:59 PM): From 'ownedbyme1' I just need you to verify your password change on here so the hacker is not toying with the account. bspaboy418 (2:34:14 PM): Once that's done, I'll enter it into your account's preferances and you'll be set. Mirasaros (2:34:25 PM): You want me to give you my password? bspaboy418 (2:35:36 PM): Basically yes. Although, I need it on AIM because the hacker could still be on the account for all we know. There are websites called proxies which hide your IP address from IP counter tracks which how I knew only one person was online into the account. Mirasaros (2:36:11 PM): No, I won't. I'd much rather take this and report it. bspaboy418 (2:36:39 PM): Once a moderator has seen an account hacked right before their eyes, it has to be modified and verified by the person in another way besides ingame. bspaboy418 (2:36:49 PM): This is your AIM you linked with your gaia account, correct? Mirasaros (2:36:53 PM): Yes. Mirasaros (2:37:01 PM): But I still won't do it. You should have my password. bspaboy418 (2:37:55 PM): In the game yes. But once verified outside the account, it's all peachy keen. You could be the hacker on this AIM account, you see? bspaboy418 (2:38:07 PM): I'm just trying to clear up any confusion this might causde for you in the future. bspaboy418 (2:38:26 PM): Sorry, *cause. Mirasaros (2:38:29 PM): Yes, but you haven't done anything to let me know how to further hack into the account even I was the hacker. Mirasaros (2:38:41 PM): I'm sorry, but I'm sticking to the regulations that I've seen Gaia post up. Mirasaros (2:38:58 PM): I've been on this website for four years and I've seen that message spammed constantly enough to know what it says. bspaboy418 (2:41:11 PM): Ok. Just to let you know this may cause the duration of the results to be longer and your items may be lost in this process. Some items are inconveniently lost due to the investigation process. As long as you're okay with the possibility of losing some items, we're done. Mirasaros (2:41:42 PM): I'll file a report on Gaia. Thank you for your help. bspaboy418 (2:42:45 PM): Ok, thank you for contacting kekeke, omnimoderator of gaiaonline.com. If you need anyother help, please do not hesitate to contact me on here, or oin game messaging. Mirasaros (2:42:54 PM): -nods- bspaboy418 went away at 5:16:43 PM.
And that was the entire conversation. Eeegh. -rubs neck-
Also, ownedbyme1? xDDDD Even if the hacker is a complete a*****e I'll give him (or her) points for having a sense of humor.
And I don't know if that person was a liar or not. Either way, I wasn't about to go handing my password off like free ******** candy ESPECIALLY after what had just happened. =___=
So, I still have MOST of my things. From what I can tell none of my items were gifted to another account, the most expensive ones seem to still be there. My Lunar Scythe and Demonic Anklets were sold, but thankfully the gold wasn't moved to another account so I've got about 137k that I can use to buy my lost crap back.
Anyway... I filed a report to Gaia and told them EVERYTHING in as little as possible. Including the fact that Rose was on my account to avoid having them thinking that HIS IP address was the hacker's and having his account banned. xDD Aaand I also took a few pictures to immortalize the moment. Lemme whip out some screenshots. Oh, and the hacker also changed my profile layout. I'm not sure HOW but somehow my profile is back to the way it was before. Which... suuuucks. My profile might not have been mighty and grand by any standards but it took me an hour or two to put together. Putting together pretty post decorations for role plays or making a decent profile is NOT one of my strong points. ^^; I mean, I use a program on a website, I don't actually write anything out myself but it takes me a while to get everything to work and a lotta backtracking. =A= Anyway, time for pictures. Also, if they're stretching the page, I apologize. I resized them but it seems to take a few hours for the images to actually get smaller in the links for some stupid reason....
-This is what the hacker changed my avatar to. -rolls eyes- Just beautiful, hm?
This was the revelation.
This was work in progress.
And this is what the hacker was planning on selling before Rose pulled them all down. Unfortunately the Lunar Scythe and Demonic Anklets were sold, but as the hacker never moved the gold that they got from selling them to another account, I can rebuy everything.
That's all I got for screenshots. OH. And did I mention that the hacker also used my account and sent out PM's to people on my friend's list using the SAME scam that they used on me? "Vote for me in the arena!" -rolls eyes- Such a.... -mutters- Rose sent off a warning PM for me when he noticed that the hacker had sent messages off. So all that I can do is pray that people will read the PM that Rose sent off and not the one that the hacker sent first. /:
The. Freakin'. END. =__=
