(Inspired by a picture and an rp- well, I'm still trying to convince the others to hold the snowball fight so it can't be influenced by an rp just yet...)
A determined expectant gleam shone clearly in the dark grey eyes of Col. Mustang as he stood on a low rise in the snow covered park of Central City. Behind him, Havoc, Breda, and Fuery were busy building up a wall of snow that would serve as their 'fort' for the upcoming 'battle'. As he turned around to look over his subordinate's work, a teenager's voice took his attention.
"Hey Mustang!" Ed's voice called out from across the park
Roy turned his head around just in time to recieve a snowball to the face. Ed gave out a good laugh as he stood up from where he was hiding to get a better look at the snow plastered Colonel, only to recieve a blow to the head by a bigger, faster snowball. "That was pretty cheap, Edward!" Roy yelled, annoyed at having been caught off guard by the pipsqueak. "It's just like you said, Colonel." Ed replied shaking the remains of snow from off his face and he grew deep voiced as he mimicked Mustang, " 'There are no cheap shots'." Roy rolled his eyes but Ed didn't see it as he turned around to walk back to his 'side' of the battlefield. "That reminds me..." he clapped his hands together and kneeled to place both palms on the ground. Seconds later, the unmistakable glow of a transmutation circle brightened the area and a formidable looking ice fortress arose from out of the snow. "What do you think, Colonel?" Ed asked with a jeer.
Roy looked unmoved but his team members were sure swayed. Fuery, Breda, and Havoc all gaped at their latest challenge before turning to look back at the embarrasment they called a snow fort. "That can't be fair!" Breda blurted out finally, voicing his team's thoughts. "Well, I'd say it's a good thing I decided to be on Ed's side." Maes said with a broad grin as he finished packing a snowball. "Still, Sir, Breda does have a point." Riza remarked with an unimpressed glance to Ed's latest piece of alchemic craftsmanship. She still didn't have a clue as to why she had decided to join in on this little game but it was too late to change her mind now. "Uh...brother? A little help please?" Al's voice sounded as he sank waist deep into the snow. Ed quickly ran over to help him out. "Hey, Al, stop shrinking would ya?" he said with a laugh, "As nice as it is to finally be taller than you for once, it doesn't suit you at all."
While he was still trying to pull Al from the snow, Ed's attention was taken away for a moment when the otherside of the park lit up from a transmutation in the works. Though it wasn't as well crafted as Ed's was, the sculpture was unmistakably a fort. Roy had managed to get Fuery and Havoc to make a circle with a square circumscribed in it- one of the most basic alchemic symbols but it served it's purpose. Mustang and the others now had a fort that could hold it's own against Ed's and that was all that mattered at the moment.
The sun had reached it's apex when the battlefield was ready. Both teams had grown over the course of preparation time. Several officers- Armstrong, Brosh, Ross, and Falman are a few that could be named had shown up, along with a large group of neighborhood kids that had decided to join in as well. At the top of each fortress waved a small banner; Blue for Roy's team, and Red for Ed's.
As the members of both teams got to their appointed stations, Maes came to the center of the field with a megaphone in hand. "Welcome contestants to the first Snow Battle Royale! Hosted right here in Central Park!" Maes began with a broad grin, "Now the game is Capture the Flag! First team to infilitrate the enemy's base and retrieve the enemy's flag shall be declared winner of the match! Before we get started, I'll take a moment to go over the rules."
There were a few moans that came from both sides of the field but Maes ignored them and continued on.
"Rule one- No alchemy shall be used at all during the game. Should any alchemists be caught doing so, they shall be removed from the game.
Rule two- No headshots, it's alright if there's accidents, but try not to do so purposefully. And rule three- Have fun! Enjoy yourselves and let the powder fly!
Now that that's all settled....BEGIN!" Maes announced and dashed to the right side of the field just as the air became filled with snow balls.
