Lee Bailong (李白龍 Japanese: Rī Bairon, Pinyin: Lǐ Báilóng), Lee Bailong"The White Dragon"; Lee Bailong was a kung fu movie star who was murdered by the Tao clan to be Jun's Jiang-si bodyguard. He is a thinly-veiled reference to Bruce Lee, who died under suspicious circumstances. Technically, he is not a spirit, but a living corpse reanimated using Tao Jun's "ofuda". However, he can be considered to be serving a similar purpose, since he serves Tao Jun and hangs around her perpetually. He is known as Lee Pai-Long in the English anime. Bailong was born on November 29, 1948 and died mysterious at the age of thirty; his body disappeared after his funeral. It is later revealed that Bailong was murdered to be Tao Jun's guardian jiāngshī. Once he becomes self-aware again, he forgives Jun for what her family did to him and becomes very attached to her. Lee Bailong's sensei, Sha-wen (Shao-lin in the English anime), founded a variation of the Chāolín ("super forest" wink Temple Style (a parody of Shaolin). Sha-wen created the Ruichong-quan kung-fu.Sha-wen's Ruichong-quan kung-fu was the basis of Bailong's style, the Dǎodàn-do (dǎodàn is Chinese for "missile" wink , which combined Boxing, Muay Thai, and Karate. Before Bailong died, he intended to create a perfect version of it and he intended not to pass it on until he finally perfected it. Bailong died before he could complete his art form. Various Daodan Do moves include Fu chong Hong Zha si (dive bomber, a series of matrix like flips), followed by Hong Zha Jiao (Bomb kick, a thrust to the face using the right leg) or the Dao Dan Jiao (rochet kick, a sudden thrust to the body with the legs). Tokagero (トカゲロウ Tokagerō) / Tokageroh Seiyu; Wataru Takagi, Voice Actor; Wayne Grayson He is the spirit partner of Wooden Sword Ryu. Though Tokagero always talks about being a nasty villain, but he is actually a big softie. The armor he wears on his face is called hanburi. He was born on November 14, 1374. When he was alive, Tokagero was a thief that was born into poverty. Tokagero was forced to eat his own dead mother to survive and he was later killed by Amidamaru at the age of 35. In the modern age, Tokagero attacks Yoh Asakura and his friends in order to get revenge on Amidamaru, who does not recall him at all. Through Anna Kyoyama's research, they learn that he is an obscure historical figure who was killed by Amidamaru. Tokagero possesses Yoh's friend Ryunosuke Unemiya ("Wooden Sword" Ryu) and uses him to steal the Harusame (Sword of Light) from the museum and attack Yoh and Amidamaru. The fight that ensues forces Yoh and Amidamaru to break the Harusame in order to save Ryu's life. Yoh appeals to Tokagero and allows him to possess him instead of Ryu, who is just an innocent bystander, because Yoh believes that Tokagero is not as evil as he claims. Togakero does so, with the supposed intention of killing Yoh in the process, but finds he does not have the heart to and leaves Yoh's body peacefully. Tokagero eventually becomes the spirit ally of Ryu. After Ryu and Tokagero train at Izumo, Tokagero embodies the spirit of the mythical river god, Yamata no Orochi. However, it is a common misconception that the Yamata no Orochi is a second spirit that Ryu possesses.
500 years before the start of the series, Hao was reincarnated as a member of the Patch tribe, the organizers of the Shaman Fight. Although he would fail to become the Shaman King, he succeeded in the stealing from the tribe the Spirit of Fire, which became his spirit ally when he was again reincarnated 500 years later. Its power was greatly diminished because of its journey back from Hell (where Hao negotiates the terms of his reincarnations with Taizan Kuzun, the god of the dead), forcing it to regain its strength by consuming other souls and spirits. Together, the two were an unstoppable force that was all but destined to win the Shaman Fight. In the manga, Hao discards the Spirit of Fire after the other competitors forfeit the Shaman Fight, making Hao the Shaman King and the inheritor of the Great Spirits. The Spirit of Fire then became the spirit ally of Lyserg Diethel, its destined Elemental Warrior. In the anime, Hao would ultimately deem the Shaman Fight to be a pointless contest, and would move to acquire the Great Spirits by force. After fighting through various obstacles, the Spirit of Fire would seemingly consume the Great Spirits itself, being reborn in a golden hue ten times its previous size.
Silva Furyoku: 15,000 Seiyu; Hikaru Midorikawa, Voice Actor; Dan Green Silva, with Lip and RapSilva is a Native American of the Patch Tribe and a member of the Shaman Fight Selection Committee. He was born on September 16, 1971, and his blood type is B. He travels from the United States (The "Desert of the West" in the English anime) to Japan after being assigned to test Yoh Asakura. After some difficulty, Yoh lands a hit on Silva, passing the qualification test. Silva watches over Yoh after he defeats him in the qualification test, finding Yoh to have great potential and good will and must frequently refrain from directly interfering to aid Yoh. He often is seen as a street vendor, trying to sell traditional Native American crafts while in Japan. He spends the rest of his spare time watching soap operas. Silva has five familiars, who are luminous totems that have refined themselves for over 500 years: Silver Horn - an American Bison spirit, Silver Rod - a snake spirit, Silver Shield - a turtle spirit, Silver Tail - a coyote spirit, and Silver Wing - an eagle spirit. The five can combine to form a cannon used in the Totemic Soul Blast attack. His plant is most likely the forest. His power was greatly increased by the song of the patch at the cost of his mentality. He became sadistic and is seen mocking everyone before they reached the first plant.Hao is actually his ancestor.
Ren is a shaman from China who came to Japan to fight Yoh Asakura and to take part in the Shaman Fight in Tokyo. In the American dub this is never mentioned. Ren starts off as a 13 year old in the manga and the original Japanese anime, while in the English anime he first appears as a 15 year old.He is serious, logical, and emotionally aloof. He has become like this because of how he was raised. Because of his father, Ren had adapted a deep hatred towards humanity and a strong yearning to eliminate them all. He also believed that his spirit companion, Bason, was only meant to be used as a tool and to treat him as a friend would only result in the spirit taking advantage over him. Ren's anger and hatred came from his father (or uncle in the English anime), Tao Yúan (Tao En). Forced to train and study at a very young age, Ren had his childhood stolen from him. He hated Tao Yuan for causing all of his suffering. As he gains the friendship of Yoh and the others, he realizes that everything he once believed about the world was not true. He learned to trust others and that humans weren't as awful as he thought they were because Yoh and the others showed him that some people truly are kind. A new will to change himself took over. He wanted to let go of his hatred so he could be able to move on with his life, so he returned to China to defeat his father. His first attempt failed, but he refused to give in to his father, even as he remained chained in the dungeon of his home. Thanks to Bason, Yoh and the others came to help him. He thanked them for rescuing him but was persistent in saying that he didn't want any help from them. He said it was his problem alone. But eventually all of them defeated Yúan together; allowing Ren to finally move on.Ren tries hard to maintain a tough and confident exterior and is aloof, but deep down would risk his life for his allies. Ren is a particularly impatient person with a very short temper, and isn't afraid to hurt the source of the anger.Ren is an egotistical person and usually doesn't care that people think that he's overly proud. He even named his own team, "Team the Ren", much to the annoyance of his teammate, Horohoro. His overflowing self-confidence annoys some of the other characters. In addition, Ren is also very intuitive, quick-witted, and sometimes stubborn. He is also very defiant. He rarely listens to what anyone says or takes their instructions. Before and during the process in which he befriended Yoh, he even was bold enough to disobey his father on various occasions. It is mentioned that Ren is skilled in more than one area of combat. Not only is he a powerful shaman capable of doing things most shamans his age would not be able to, but in addition, he also seems to be skilled in martial arts and sword fighting, in addition to also learning many of Mikihisa Asakura's techniques simply by experiencing them firsthand. It is also lightly suggested in the manga that Ren can also play the erhu. As the series progresses, Ren begins to trust others more. Out of all his friends, his bonds with Yoh and Horohoro seem to be the strongest. Ren often fights with Horohoro and the two do not seem to get along at all. However, after Ren sacrifices himself to save him, it becomes apparent that they really do care for one another. As Faust worked to try to save Ren's life after the incident, Horohoro did his best to protect the unconscious Ren.Ren's name in Chinese means "benevolent", "tough", and "edge of a knife", all of which are reflected in his character. His actual Chinese name, Lián, means "lotus". In the English dub, he is given a British accent.
