A man upon a wooden stage in front of a Cathedral His hands are bound, he kneels facing the people A whip comes cracking hard, striking his back red No sign of sorrow or pity as they watched while he bled “What is your crime?” they called to him, mercy on their face “I have loved another and not his Holy Grace” “Repent!” They cried and “Who partnered in your crime?” “I will not speak, your knowledge is weak and will end your lives.” Angered by his lies they cracked the whip again Blood smeared their faces laughing at his sin “Behold citizens” cried the leader of the clan “This fiend has sinned do not follow lest you be like this man” The man looked up, blood dripping, mouth agape “I have not sinned, do not believe this snake.” “My only crime is love, and love is not a crime” “I promise thee, that you will see all my truth in time” That is when the leader then cried out “Enough!” “Do not believe these lies, his crime is not love!” “He is on trial here, soon we shall see whom this man ‘loves’” They whipped him hard and for eternity and forever No matter how hard all he cried was “Never” “You know not her name, I will not speak it.” “Your anger there, it is not your only weakness” Rage building up they saw one path They had the plan, they were going to kill this man A woman from the crowd rushed up crying “No!” “I love this man I will never let him go!” Now their trap had worked They lured out this scheming pair to see what it was worth “See citizens! The Witch and her man!” “Together they are evil and together they shall burn” “Then let us die together, then maybe you will see” “Love doesn’t die with death, it lasts for eternity.” The two lovers were then burned The people lived their lives Though many years had passed They never forgot the lovers words
