So, this message was posted in the "Dev Notices - Events" thread:
"Last Day for the S.O.S. mini-event
The S.O.S mini-event will be ending Wednesday 4/29 before noon (Pacific Time). The top donators for each shop and anyone who has donated at least 1 million gold to a shop will get a special thank you from the NPCs once the event is over.
As for the shops that don't make it....well, they may or may not be around on Thursday.... "
I took this to mean we'd get some special prize (an item) for donating 1mil. Later, I was reading in a GCD thread where a user PM'ed a dev, and was told that the "thank you" wouldn't be an item. Of course, I read that *after* I donated the 1mil.
I would have been MORE than ecstatic with a soul-bound special item. Of course, at first, I wanted an item I could resell. But, no. It was a profile comment from the NPC you donated to.
I have to say, a personalized comment from Ian is cool, but NOT worth 1 million gold. I had to sell my Kitsune Mask to get enough. I miss my mask.
I just wish the devs would have been MUCH more forthcoming with information and details regarding this event. I was so disappointed when I didn't get an item. I feel really misled. Why can't they even post when events will END in the announcements??
Needless to say, I am never taking another risk like that on Gaia again. I've already sworn off Random Item Generators forever.
My point: why do I have to dig around the GCD to find basic information about events?
I do like the new look and organization of the shops, though...
