This is a small piece on a story that will probably never find it's way to a publisher, or even near completion. Naturally, no one was blind to the thick, black fog that shrouded it, save for the one spark in the horizon.
"Midway through the journey of our life, I found myself in a dark wood, for the correct path Had been lost."
Ars read out loud as she scanned the surrounding, her gaze falling on the distant mountain peak. It would be so simple, really... So simple a task to attempt and climb the mountain, thus shortening the distance between the pilgrims and their goal a great deal. However, like most journeys of this sort, it wouldn't do, and there was no point in trying a wasted enterprise anyways. After all, the Law of Providence stated thus: Only after trial and tribulation will the object of your wanderings be gained.
She did not glance to her hand as she chose the Fifteenth Key to see what it portrayed.
The Key depicted a demon sitting on a throne with two chained humans, whose facial expressions were of suffering and despair. The humans were so caught up in their grief that they failed to notice that their bonds linking them to the demon were broken, that they were, in fact, delivered. The Key glowed in her hand.
"I now evoke the power of the Fifteeth Key, with full awareness and knowledge of this power to unlock Gates to the Otherworlds with words once said, now repeated." Sharp breath.
"The way to Heaven lies through Hell."
