Chapter 8 Part 2 The Caged Heart
I had to admit flying was harder than it look, but I learned quickly through some advice from Vayu.
Once I could move a good amount of speed before losing control as well as being able to float and glide without flapping my wings too much.
We soon headed towards the Kingdom.
Flying in the sky was always a dream of mine, now see the ground below and felling the soft clouds, I wanted Hikari to feel this too one day.
“Focus!” said Vayu.
“Sorry.”
We soon reached the cloud. Well, actually I hit it. One thing was sure, it was hard.
“I told you to stay focus.”
“Yeah, sorry.”
We rose up and landed on the outskirts of a village with a strange fog surrounding us.
The fog dispersed as soon as we entered the village and crowds of people surrounded us. I was going to retract my wings, but Vayu continued forward like it was nothing and no one paid attention. I then followed after him.
Soon we were on a hill on the outskirts of the other side of town. We then entered a shop and a muscular man wearing some gloves, fireproof pants, and an eye-patch turn towards us. He was covered with many scars. “Vayu, is that you?” He said in a gravely voice.
“Hi, Kaji.” Vayu responded.
“Vayu, welcome.” He came up and rubbed Vayu’s head.
“Don’t treat me like a kid.” Vayu responded.
“Fine, fine. Heard you got captured.” He said as he sat down. “So I guess you either it was a lie or you escape.” He laughed, “Either way you and your friend are welcome here.”
“Don’t worry, I’ll be gone tonight. I just needed to get my claws reforged.” He tossed them to Kaji who caught it on the blade.
“Fine, but I think there is something you should know before joining him.” He glanced in my direction.
“Look, he is an honest person and I need to do this…for Charlie.” He looked worried and scared then turned away.
Kaji got up and punched Vayu, “I know about my daughter and the info involves her.”
Both Vayu and I turned in shock.
“Info on Charlie?” Vayu asked.
“You’re her father?” I asked.
He chuckled at that. “Yes, Nobody right? I am Charlie’s father, Kaji, the blacksmith. I am half harpy while Charlie’s mother was human. She inherited the harpies’ agility and few other skills, but not the physical traits.” He unfolded one black wing. “And so I was branded with the removal of one of my wings as for falling in love with a human.” I was shocked.
“I was trapped here, unable to see my wife and daughter. She soon found another man and he was a good person so I let go and both died peacefully.”
“As for Charlie, she still has harpy blood, my blood, in her so she was taken to the cage just the other day to await her fate for helping you.”
I felt guilt. It hurt, but then I felt something slap my back.
“Don’t worry. I know you’ll save her.” He smiled at me. “Now let me have your blades as well; they need a tune up.” He took them, grabbed some goggles and got to work.
Vayu took me up to a room he stays in every now and then.
We decide to rest up for tonight, but before we fell asleep, I had to know something.
“Vayu how did you meet Kaji and Charlie?” I asked.
Vayu stared at the ceiling like there was a bug crawling on it.
He sighed and said; “I was found by Kaji when I was a young child because of what is on my back.”
“What?”
He took off his shirt and showed his wings and then I notice on it a giant black spot.
“It is a sign of my state of being birth, an affair between a noble and the lowest class. I was abandoned no one wanted me, but Kaji took me in for he understood.”
“When I got older, he sent me to check on his daughter every now and then. Soon we became friends even after she found out who I was.”
He looked spaced out now, “I think when she held my hand and looked me in the eye to tell me that, I fell in love with her. She looked so lovely and…” He fell asleep, bright red and happy.
I went outside to see the beautiful sky and thought of Hikari when I feel in love with Hikari.
It was a few days after I first met her. We began to meet to help calmed each other’s stressed days. I saw the moon reflected in her beautiful eyes and the way her hair glowed under the moonlight. I told her how I felt and she accepted my feelings.
It was so perfect. My heart skipped a beat.
I hope to see it again. I then fell asleep.

We later awoke to Kaji telling us that everything was ready and as the moon shown in the night sky. We set for the castle.
Unusually, the castle was open with directions to both the Cage and Wrulthsta’s room and a key to the cage.
It was most likely a trap, but we both went in our separate directions.
I followed the path and soon entered the room at the end of the hall.
There, sitting on her desk, like Riavarce did with his, Wrulthsta waited.
She was beautiful, but something was a little off.
“Welcome, Nobody, would you like to join me?” She asked flirtatiously.
“No.” I responded.
“Ahh, I was going to let you live, but I guess not.” She then drew her weapon.
I quickly went to stop her and accidentally cut off her hand. Dang, I didn’t mean to, but…
She went over to her hand and reattached it somehow.
“Now I am angry, you left a mark. You shall pay for ruining my beauty.” Suddenly a dark fierce aura started to grow and grow.
“This is going to be trouble isn’t it?” I asked while I drew my other blade.
“Very.” She responded and went to strike.

Vayu reached the top of the castle to find the cage.
Fog covered the cage and he was in the middle of cloud lines and a storm was approaching you could sense the rain and lightning.
He opened the cage with a key and soon saw many harpies looking depressed like they were trapped in a bubble of darkness. Each had a shock collar on them if they tried to escape the cage.
“Vayu?” Came a voice.
Vayu turned to see Charlie who was wearing what look like a smock from a doctor’s office except for no opening.
“Charlie!” he hugged her immediately and she returned it. “I was worried.”
“Well, I am glad to see you too, but Vayu, we need to get everyone out of here or she’ll kill us.”
“Wrulthsta? Nah, Nobody is taking care of her.”
“She isn’t your problem.” Another voice said.
Vayu turned and said, “You?”
“Hello.”
“How are you here, no why? Why are you here Lynette?”
“Well, the one you know is a fake.”
“A fake?”
“Yes, quickly free everyone.”
Vayu did. It was a password lock, but Vayu cracked Charlie and they both input the same code for the rest.
After everyone was out, Vayu was going to do Queen Lynette’s but when he reach to enter the code he found a keyhole instead with her chained to the ground.
“Dang, why are you here? Tell me.”
“Because I put her in there.” Said a voice from outside the cage.
Soon the clouds began to clear and floating before them was another Queen Lynette.
“For I am the only true Queen. Now it is time to punish my subjects.”
She held the key outside the bars and then jumped high into the air then crashed down through the cage destroying it.
She transformed into a giant black hawk with red eyes and sharp talons.
As Vayu and Charlie took their positions for combat, the new monster ate the key.
"There is no hope for any of you."
Vayu looked at Charlie.
“Don’t die on me.” He said.
“You know me better than that.” She said with a smile.
“You two will suffer greatly.” The pseudo Queen said.
They went for a strike and the storm began.
