Chapter One
Jimmy Louie propped his chin on his hand, her stared out the window of his family's SUV. They passed a blue sign with peeling paint exclaiming: WELCOME TO ELK GROVE! THE MOST VINTAGE TOWN IN CALIFORNIA! Jimmy grimaced. His family was moving to a small run-down town where the houses were cheap. What a summer. "Here we are!", his dad smiled and pulled up onto a long strip of concrete, Jimmy guessed it was their new driveway. "Jimmy, can you start unloading? Me and your mother have to leave soon to get to the town hall.", Jimmy groaned, but nodded. He sluggishly stood up and walked to the trunk after exiting the blue vehicle. He grabbed a few boxes and set them by their new screen door, well at least it was new to him. It actually had scratches and a broken handle. Home sweet home.
The SUV backed out and drove out of view in just a few seconds, Jimmy glanced at the pile of things and then his old green bike, "Time for exploring old pal.", for a few minutes he sat astride his rusting bike, his eye was caught by a group of teenagers passing by on more bikes, they looked about his age, 17. He saddled on his bike and rode down the road first, it was a short ride into town. Then he spotted a quite hideous house. It was a pale blue color that peeled off in long but thin streaks. "I wonder who abandoned that..", he mumbled to himself. It had a back door with steps that were rotting and about to completely fall apart. A run-down red truck was parked in the front lawn, but as Jimmy began to ride towards the road the dispatched into the town, he gaped in awe. Across the street of the seemingly abandoned house was a black Ferrari with a human walking out that was actually walking towards the front door. Jimmy had to jerk his bike to regain his balance, he almost slammed into a tree. He jumped off then sat his bike against the large tulip poplar. Planning to watch the person approach the house, he crouched behind the tree also. A girl with blonde hair that curled at her shoulders was actually coming over to the back door, Jimmy was surprised to see her swing herself up onto the small porch and enter the house.
Jimmy watched the contrast, a quite expensive car parked across from a house that looked like it was older than paper. He hopped onto his bike and pedaled back home.

He walked into his house and stared at the unsightly radiator and then the fireplace with crumbling brick. He heard a couple loud thumps that he guesses were knocks on the door, with a rather rude attitude he walked over to the door and opened it. Nobody occupied the front porch, so ding-dong ditch the door bell huh?, he thought. Then he spotted group of kids across the street, the same troupe that zoomed down the streets in bikes all day. As soon as they disappeared into a house nearby Jimmy began walking towards a large tree that the group seemed to enjoy peering up and attempting to climb.
Jimmy stood under the tree, suddenly realizing how hard it was to actually swing your entire body up onto a branch. He was just about to turn around and walk away when he heard something, "Watch out!", a voice called from who knows where, Jimmy was dazed at the sudden call when a girl fell from the tree! She quickly stood up, while Jimmy lay sprawled on the grass. "I'm so sorry! I was up in the tree and didn't see you when I tried to get down and I was already jumping down..and....hey!", she began to smile, while Jimmy, confused and angry, stood up and rubbed his head. "Hey what?", he groaned, "You live down the street from me!" "It's a tiny town I live down the street from half the....."Jimmy soon realized, "You mean that you live in that run-down house?!", he forgot his throbbing head and looked at her, "With a black Ferrari!", he was in disbelief. She just smiled and tossed her curls back, "I'm Amelia, and yes that's my house."she nodded her head,"I'm 17 but the county let me live alone as long as the sheriff has occasional check ups.", she nodded smoothly. She then gestured down the road where her house was located.
Jimmy walked next to her in the fading sunlight, "I just realized that my parents have been gone only half an hour and it's almost sunset.", he smirked while Amelia just shrugged, "This is one strange town.", she had an eerie smile, the kind that made you think twice about her strange choice of words. "Okay...", Jimmy looked at surrounding trees along with a few houses that were crumbling. One gray house had boarded up windows with splashes of gray paint, an attempt to hide the unsightly planks of wood. Another house had a door that hung on only one rusty hinge, it creaked in the wind like a tire swing. "So a lot of these houses look abandoned, are they?", he arched his eye brow as they passes a green house with a few loud barking dogs inside. "Well, mostly. There's a strange visitor that likes to inhabit these houses, the boards on the gray house are protection.", Jimmy looked at her with wide eyes, "Are you telling me there are ghosts?", he couldn't believe it, he as a skeptic and all the sudden she's saying he's living in a haunted town! "No no no! It's a wild visitor.", she smiled, in her same macabre grin. "So like rats and possums I'm guessing.", Jimmy could imagine that, little pests scurrying about in the dark. "No again, they're much bigger than that.", Amelia smiled, showing her white teeth. "It's not like-", Jimmy was in mid-sentence when some large creature sauntered into the street. Jimmy saw it's massive body and froze in fright, unable to look at Amelia. She also stood there, her eyes in slits as she squinted at the large beast's fur. She amazed Jimmy once again by advancing forward, she smiled again. Jimmy made a gasp/cry for help as Amelia seemingly walked into the clutches of this animal. Jimmy soon realized, Amelia had walked up to a wolf.
