I thought I already posted up an entry on it. I guess not. XD It's my first time going to all three days of AnimeNext and it's so fun, especially when you're with a friend. But it's also tiring if you don't get enough sleep and aren't prepared. Anyway, I'll start on Thursday.
Thursday was the day that my friend and I got picked up by my sis to stay over her house. Of course, we had to first head straight to the center and pick up our badges so we don't have to wake up mad early. It was a long wait but if people get there early like maybe before they open than you won't have to wait in the long line.
The only thing that bothered me was that they didn't give us our bags/bookets and we only receive the schedule. As much as it was nice to know when something started and ended it didn't help us figure out what certain panels were. We could only guess and half the time we guess wrong, like the "There She Is" panel. We had no idea what that panel was about until we finally got the booklets.
Either way, when Friday came we left early and went to the con with no problems at all. After a few minutes standing and being bumped into one of our friends, they let us know all we had to do was go ask for the bags and we got them. As soon as we got our bags we check our schedules and the booklet to figure out what we'll do. Since we got there early there wasn't much to do besides watch some video screenings or go to the Manga Library to read something. But than I suggested we go to the Dealer's Room now because there's always a long line right before it's going to open. Plus the staff members always have the fans wait first, to make sure it's not packed with so many people inside as soon as it's open.
It was a good thing I suggested because there was already a line forming when my friend and I got there. I actually forgot what I got in the Dealer's Room but what I remember is that I didn't get that much because I didn't see anything I like. And after a couple of hours there we went to the Artist Alley to see what they have. That's when we ran into some friends who were also going for all three days and we hanged out for a bit until one of the panels we wanted to go to was starting, which was the Ask the Organization.
Haha, it was nice and amusing. You can youtube it and if you're lucky you can spot my friend and I. We were sitting in the seats in the front and every time the person with the camera turned to the audience you can spot us...well sometimes, otherwise we're just blurs. lol
After it was over we wondered around and went to the Manga Library to kill some time before we went to the Uncle Yo panel. Of course I should have been more forceful with my friend to move faster since EVERYBODY wants to see Uncle Yo. That line was very long and we were lucky enough to get seats facing the stage with him on it and seeing the all the action. Once it was once we decided to head home. of course if I had my ID with me we could have stayed longer to check out Cosplay Burlesque and the other stuff. XD
Now Saturday...
We got there at 11:00 am right when the Photoshop 1 panel was going to start. I didn't want to go to that, but my friend wanted too. I still wondered why she wanted to go in the first place when I know how to use the program and if she had any questions about it I could have showed her/answered them. And not even 20 minutes into it my friend lost interest and she was bored, asking me for a pencil to doodle stuff on her schedule. I just rolled my eyes and paid attention since I didn't want to be rude when we were sitting right in the front of the guy.
When that panel was over we decided not to stay for part 2 of it and head to the dealer's room. I know I got a couple of stuff there like my heartless hat. My friend, she went to buy a katana but the guy told her her credit card wasn't going through, along with her other cards. So we left and she checks her balance and yeah...she's broke now and was pretty upset at not getting a katana.
My sis picked us up for some lunch and we stopped by at a bank to see if she can get some money and than we headed back. Just in time to be in the C.R.A.Z.Y.O.T.A.K.U. panel which was nice and fun. When it was over we wondered around more until it was getting closer to the Masquerade. Of course, being that I never went to one we come to learn that there's was a GAINT line for it already forming like two hours ago and my friend and I waited in line wondering if there was going to be enough seats for everyone. During that time we also realize that our friends were in the line next to us and few feet ahead of us. I went to them and said hello and stuff, did some small talk and than went back to my spot on line since my friend and I are one of those good people who don't like to cut people in line.
So, once they were letting people in, my friend and I found ourselves in seats but they weren't a part of the action. There was a black curtain diving us from the main event/people and all we had was a screen in front of us showing the people on the stage. It was a bit upsetting since the people over there were able to get attention and be excited but the people with us were all bored and quite, just watching the screen like we were at the movies. Even so, we still couldn't help enjoying some of the skits, especially the funny ones.
And than we headed home.
Sunday...
There wasn't much to do other than relax and hang out with friends. And some of the cosplayers we saw that were dressed up on the other two days, decided to half dress and just take that time to chill on the grass with friends or get some stuff in the dealer's room and the artist alley.
That's what my friend and I did. We mingled around the artist alley and the dealer's room for anything we missed or whatever the dealer's decide to put out. And than we when to the Ye Old Final Fantasy/Square Enix panel. Which was interesting and funny. And afterwards we met up with our friends again we decided to split our snacks and food for lunch. Again there wasn't much to do, it's mostly a chill day for everyone who goes there for all three days and besides it ends at 5:00 pm...officially it does at that time but otherwise everything fun like panels, events and so on end at 4:00. And we decided to leave early and head to my sis's place to collect our stuff before we went back to our homes.
In conclusion it was fun and memorable! And you WILL lose sleep if you don't plan out when you want to go and when you want to leave and when you'll get some sleep. lol
I have to say I got a lot of things this year and I think I'll get myself a katana next time. Not only that but also a lot of things happen too but I wanted to keep this as short as I can or else it'll get even longer. ^-^
