Has anyone ever heard of CYOA (Choose Your Own Adventure)?
If not than I'm sure you don't know what it is either. It's mostly a story written from a second-person point of view, with the reader assuming the role of the protagonist and making choices that determine the main character's actions in response to the plot and its outcome. Choose Your Own Adventure was one of the most popular children's series during the 1980s and 1990s, selling over 250 million copies between 1979 and 1998, and translated into at least 38 languages.
Basically, it's stories that are written like this:
Lisa noticed a red door at the end of the hallway. All the other doors were black and locked. Curious she walked closer to it and placed her hand on the door knob. Surprisingly it was warm which is odd. All the other door knobs were cold and no one lived in the old house but her. Carefully, she turned the knob but did not fully opened it.
Should she open it? (Go to page 20)
Should she turn back? (Go to page 30)
Another example would be this:
The deeper you walked into the forest the more quieter it got and the less animals you saw. Something about the center of the forest was wrong but not evil, at least that's what your senses are telling you. Suddenly a loud unhuman cry echoed, sending chills down your spine and it didn't sound good. You paused, wondering if you should continue.
Continue on, maybe someone is hurt. (Go to page 3)
Turn back, it could be dangerous. (Go to page 4)
Head in another directions. (Go to page 5)

I bring this up because they're pretty fun to read and interactive just like a game. So instead of just being a bystander you actually have some control of what the characters do in the story OR you have control of what you want to do and what will happen as though you were really the main character of the story.
I decided to work on my own CYOA. I have three CYOA ideas, one is a zombie apocalypse survival story, another is a pokemon story and the last is a maybe a Silent Hill one. Right now I'm working on the pokemon CYOA since it's a lot easier for me to start on and I've already have the choices and situations in mind and plotted out. After I'm done with it or I've gone pretty far with the Pokemon CYOA than I'll start with the zombie survival story. For that however, I have yet to figure out if I want it to be an original story altogether or it be fanfiction and take place in a zombie fandom like Resident Evil, or Left 4 Dead, The Walking Dead, Dawn of the Dead, 28 Weeks Later, or any of the other zombie horror movies, video games, books etc.
On another note...It sucks a** that FanFiction.net doesn't accept that or second point of view. They don't even SAY why it's ban. It's an legit form of writing and they can be tastefully done. Look at all those book listed above...and those aren't even all of them.
